Notable features include his ginger jaw marking as well as his bright teal eyes, shifting between blue and green depending on the lighting. ● Slim frame and of moderate height, with a fluffier tail to contrast the rest of his sleek, shorter pelt.
Variations (beta wips): ━━ INJURIES/ILLNESS● n/a »» PERSONALITY● Chaotic neutral (+) Easy going, humorous, and observant
(/) Clever, curious, and evasive
(-) Detached, provocative, and two faced
● (+) Born a very perceptive kit, Turtlefang is a natural strategist and analyst. To him, any scenario can be played any number of ways, and regardless of how minuscule the outcome, he is very careful to try and calculate things according to his preference. While it can lead to him being rather caught up in his own machinations, it ultimately creates a very capable warrior who's able to see things from any number of angles, even if it means putting himself in the paws of an enemy. Generally quick on the uptake, Turtlefang has a sharp wit that he often feels suffocated under without appropriate exercise. He likes to seek out problems solely to test out his own capacity to resolve them, leading him to be very proactive around camp and very interested in the goings-on of his clanmates, even if he doesn't always voice it. Although he struggles to connect with other cats on any deeper level due to his own complex with sincerity, he's far from ignorant, and for better or worse will always poke his nose into something if it draws his notice.
● (-) Turtlefang is hardly a malicious warrior, and he always has the good of his clan in mind- However, what he deems to be best for those around him is not always necessarily right. A player of his own rules, Turtlefang likes to feel in control of the situation at all costs, and can be pushy about having his way, even if it inconveniences those around him. In his eyes, reaching a preferred outcome often means stepping on someone else's paws, and he's far from the type to shy away from conflict. Rather, a part of him seems to relish in it, spurring on negative attention like it's a game. At heart, Turtlefang just doesn't know how to be himself if it means being vulnerable with others, and as such, he tends to maintain the same cocky, undisturbed front he puts on in front of Moonclan even while among his own clanmates. If you try to probe him for sincerity, he'll just as quickly back away from the interaction, preferring hostility by a longshot than someone's genuine care and concern. It's easier to just get under other cats' skin, if it keeps them away from his own. To hold everyone at length, to control his own future, and to be untouched by the influences of others... these are all things very important to him, and while he won't go out of his way to start a problem, he's definitely willing to perpetuate it for the worst if it means feeding his starving ego. Not a bully, but hardly yet an emotionally matured cat... that's Turtlefang, seemingly ingrown within his own outer shell without any idea how to expand further. It's an insecurity he'll do anything to avoid confronting, even if it means ending up alone and ostracized by the many cats he's pushed too far. ━━ STATS (credit to this section inspired by @subway!) strengths

━━ SKILLS (credit to this section inspired by @subway!) Evasion | Manipulation
| Open-combat
| Fishing | Swift on his paws, Turtlefang can dodge most direct attacks at the start of a fight. He watches closely before making any moves, not baited by his pride to expend energy in a fight he can more easily escape.
| A tongue as smooth as it can be sharp; Turtlefang knows how to twist his words and tone to probe for what he wants. Although rarely used for malice, keep an eye out. A sweet talking Turtle is one likely to snap!
| On the leaner side, Turtlefang does best in fights on open terrain, where he can make the most of his speed on the defensive; the less space he has, the more easily he can be trapped by stronger paws.
| Poor swimming doesn't keep Turtlefang away from the waterside if it means catching a fresh spring fish in the warming seasons. His careful eye and quick instincts lend themselves to snatching up the perfect meal!

━━ HISTORY As a newborn, Turtlekit was always the black sheep of his family (including in a literal sense). His sire was never identified nor affiliated with his family growing up, which was never a fact that particularly bothered him, but naturally left him doubly inclined towards his mother's attention and affections since she was picking up the slack for two parents. Scarletglow was an attentive mother, never letting her litter stray far, but neither would she cut them any slack just because they were young and cute. Bolder and nosier than his passive pseudo-twin siblings, that meant Turtlekit often found himself being scolded for playing too rough or startling one of his little brothers with spooky stories or games about Moonclan invasion. Although this is a normal part of kithood, the young tortie was too immature to really grasp this at the time, and chalked it up to his mom playing favorites with Tinykit and Fawnkit, who always seemed to be doted on for being sweeter, lower maintenance children. Certain that he was being treated unfavorably, his aggression towards the two would only grow, which would only perpetuate his cycle of getting into trouble with their mother, which would fuel his troublesome nature even further... Despite being a problem kit, Scarletglow truly loved all her sons very dearly, but unfortunately, Turtlekit would never get the chance to learn from his developmental feelings and resolve his budding resentment towards his mother. Very fresh into his apprenticeship, Scarletglow died in a border skirmish gone too far. It came as a terrible shock to Sunclan, but worst of all was the impact it had on Turtlepaw, who had a very horrible thought.
Ah... it's all over? No sooner had he let that traitorous thought slip that he realized what a monster he must be. That instant of relief while his brothers cried by his side, that lack of feeling altogether, must be monstrous. It must be. Although he was merely a 'paw, still maturing and having been in a shock of his own, he confused his own delayed grief and intrusive thought for his own sincere contentment at his mother's death. Unable to understand his own emotional state and now without an adult to guide him through those feelings, Turtlepaw was overwhelmed with immediate guilt and shame for the betrayal of his first reaction. He could only recognize that ugly relief. As if to compensate for his unspoken guilt, the apprentice threw himself into being a support for his brothers, playing into the role of the mother they now no longer had. But it never did feel like enough. Desperately trying to redeem himself, he found his true self slowly being lost to him, locked away somewhere as he instead molded himself into a cat Tinypaw and Fawnpaw could rely on. Someone they could love, instead of the troublemaker he was in the nursery. Someone that maybe his mother could love, even if she already did from the very start. Turtlepaw tried very hard, and succeeded, to become something foreign to himself, capable of adapting to the needs of anyone on a whim. But in the process, he became so emotionally disassociated from himself that he never seemed to relearn sincerity. Caught in an ongoing complex, Turtlefang has made his peace with his artificiality now that he's reached adulthood. A part of him feels so dirty, so fake, with the love his brothers show him, knowing that it was all built on falsehoods and mind-games rather than his own authentic bond with them. Part of him can't help but resent them, resent everyone, for being real. Being real while he's stuck lying, dodging, hiding, lest the darkness that whispered at his mother's vigil rear its head once more. In a roundabout way, he's become obsessed with antagonism when he can afford it, obsessed with punishing himself for his past through eliciting distaste from those around him. Maybe it's the only way he feels comfortable in his pelt, when there's no risk of being known and hated for the cat he really is. Maybe, it's one final rebellion against ever having to be like his brothers, so well loved, to retroactively justify his kithood feelings that he never got to make sense of. To fit into the role he now feels suits him, perhaps like his mother would have wanted- someone easier to hate, so that it's easier to hate the memory of her rather than reconcile with the possibility that maybe she never hated him at all. That maybe, his envy and shame and waste of moons constructing a front for himself would have all been for nothing. To live with what he's become, he has to believe she hated him. And to live with the monster he's sure he is, he has to make sure nobody can love him ever again. Even if that means hiding in his own head, in his own past, forever. So he's fine. ━━ CURRENTLY

> Turtlefang and Daisyfire meet at the Gathering, forming instant impressions on one another. A strained dynamic ensues. Greenleaf🍃 > Turtlefang and Rabbitblaze discuss an outline for the arrangement of a new "night patrol". They grow closer as confidantes through their planning, and set up plans for future assembly. > On a walk along the riverside, Turtlefang incidentally meets Daisyfire. The two take their interaction to the Moonpond, where they have a tense, but vulnerable exchange with one another, sharing tongues and sharing culture before parting ways on an empty, unfinished note, with words left unsaid. > Turtlefang begins recruitment for the night patrol, excluding Tinyleaf and doing his damned best to cut Iceglow as well. This does not go according to plan! > Turtlefang begins privately investigating the attacks against Sunclan, spurred on by Honeyflare's assault. He doesn't trust Rabbitstar to get the job done, or perhaps simply doesn't trust the confines of the code to allow timely progress. > Somewhere in the midst of investigations, the night patrol begins its first launch. Another assault occurs, and Turtlefang is disappointed, but not surprised. > Shadepool is killed, somehow. Turtlefang is deeply distraught, and immediately represses this. His agitation grows with every passing day. > Turtlefang begins having intrusive dreams about Daisyfire. He soon learns of his recent death. This is fine. Leaf-fall🍂
> Growing restless, Turtlefang begins actively infiltrating Moonclan territory to begin profiling its members for a suspect line-up. Thunderwillow puts an end to this, for the time being.
> As Sunclan grows more deeply disrupted, Turtlefang meets with Rabbitstar to discuss their next steps. An active investigation into the lonerlands is conceptualized. Maybe it'll help quell some rebellious spirits by busying idle paws. > Shallowpaw's body is discovered at the Gathering. It's Turtlefang's first body discovery, and it only muddles his attempts to remain objective. Especially when nobody seems to care in favor of worshipping the stupid, pointless truce instead of carrying out retribution for a dead kid. What's even the point of following Starclan's rules, when they've long abandoned us? > Exiles begin within Sunclan. Turtlefang remains allied with Rabbitstar, but not without suffering some blowback from the cats left in turmoil. He tells himself he doesn't care. ━━ PLOTTING

━━ MISC.
● Due to his kithood traumas, Turtlefang is deeply unsettled by the supernatural, neither wanting to encounter his mother nor risk having to learn she wouldn't want to encounter him in the first place. He makes a point of avoiding burial sites and while he is a believer in Starclan, he is deeply afraid of them and their ghosts for the judgements they may have to offer him. Thinking himself a lost cause, he doesn't believe he will join their ranks when he dies. ● Albeit having pent up resentment and envy towards his brothers, Turtlefang actually loves them very deeply, and can be extremely protective of the two when push comes to shove. He just likes to avoid that truth for the convenience of warding off the reciprocation he feels unworthy of. ● A mischief maker at birth, Turtlekit liked to spook those around him and play rowdy when afforded the chance; While this has long since been repressed, the adult Turtlefang is no different, and can be quite playful under the right conditions. Unfortunately, these rarely present themselves. ● Unable to reconcile with his mother's death, Turtlefang has never properly grieved it, and suffers from chronic nightmares that can sometimes manifest as stress-induced hallucinations when awake and agitated. Although he is mostly aware of when he's experiencing unreality, there are times it can slip. ● Turtlefang is very sensitive to textures and dislikes anything sticky, clinging, or otherwise uncomfortable disrupting the regular feeling of his pelt. As a result, he's a very meticulous groomer and hates getting his paws dirty. While he won't shy away from a mess for the sake of duty, he avoids it at all costs if not expressly ordered otherwise.
● Favorite prey is freshwater fish, like his mother. Tends to dislike bird and runs neutral on most land prey- food is something for practicality, not enjoyment.

»» APPEARANCE● Domestic feline ━ health: 100% ● An apricot tom with tabby ticking at his extremities, the blocking of his warm coloration being broken up into patches interspersed by swathes of white fur, predominately on his underbelly and head. Notable features include his ghost stripes and symmetrical eye patches.
● His ginger chin matches his brothers, although he most closely resembles Fawnheart with his saddle & muzzle mark alongside their deep green eyes. ● A stout tom, a bit on the fluffier side despite being short haired. ━━ INJURIES/ILLNESS● n/a »» PERSONALITY● Lawful good (+) Brave, charitable, and friendly (/) Eager to please, lively, and imaginative (-) Awkward, willfully ignorant, and self-sacrificing ● (+) With a long history of being "the good one," Tinyleaf takes his job as a golden child very seriously. When his clanmates are burdened, he can't help feeling the weight of their woes, and will try just about anything to put them at ease, even if it means throwing himself out there as a bit of a bumbling fool. A true warrior to the core, Tinyleaf would do anything for his clan, including laying his life down to help protect those around him. However, this strong sense of righteousness extends beyond that of just clan life. Although he would never deliberately disobey clan law, he is ruled primarily by his morals, and would never say no to helping a cat in need, even if it was someone from beyond the border. He worries a lot about the welfare of others, and tries to put himself in a position of being readily supportive and encouraging every day he sets paw out of his den. Some may find his persistent energy to be a bit tedious, if not irritating, but it is how Tinyleaf best expresses his love for Sunclan! Loyal to near fault and very openly affectionate, he's a solid friend to have on your side any day, and never breaks his word once it's given. A reliable cat through and through, even if at times a bit distractable.
● (-) Although Tinyleaf takes being a good warrior very seriously, it comes with drawbacks, albeit unintentional ones. Determined not to contribute to negative energies or stressors, he has a bad habit of compartmentalizing his own worries, as if pretending they're entirely non-existent. In a way, he can come off as very shallow and flimsy in spite of his friendliness, with his avoidance of any heavy topics making it hard for him to connect with others beyond a surface level. At his heart, he yearns for friendship, but fears that letting down his cheerful front would disappoint a friend's expectations for him. With that in mind, he fails to be very close to anyone at all, and seems to struggle in scenarios where his positive attitude isn't reciprocated, falling into uncomfortable silence or retreating altogether. Sensitive to rejection and unsure how to prove himself beyond appearing brave and strong, he tends to veer towards more desperate attempts at gaining praise when he feels most insecure, even if it means putting himself in harm's way or otherwise overworking himself to the point of debilitation. While his heart is a kind one, he struggles to convey his thoughts and intentions very directly, and can easily come off as reckless or even a bit ditsy as a result. There's a very mindful, sweet cat somewhere in the tom, but his overcompensation creates an entirely different impression. ━━ STATS (credit to this section inspired by @subway!) strengths

━━ SKILLS (credit to this section inspired by @subway!) Climbing prowess
| Pep-talk | Reading terrain
| Blind courage
| A practiced climber, Tinyleaf can not only scamper up trees like a squirrel, but is very capable of traversing between them for both hunting and strategic combat. He has yet to have ever hit the ground! Don't challenge this cat to a game of tag. He's got a way of landing right where he wants to.
| As obnoxious as his constant cheer may be, Tinyleaf has a knack for getting someone back on their paws through sheer enthusiasm alone. He has a contagious belief in others, and a spirit for Sunclan that keeps things lively even on the greyest days. For some, this is a comfort. No matter what changes, Tinyleaf is Tinyleaf!
| Linked to his climbing, Tinyleaf is very familiar with his home territory both on and above ground. He's spent a lot of his very spare focus on getting to know the types of plants, animals, and locations of interest around the camp; He is extremely attentive to its changes and aware of both its advantages and disadvantages on his routes.
| Say one thing for his eager devotion to clan life, but it's made quite the tough cat out of him. In tricky or scary situations, Tinyleaf perseveres against even the greatest threats, ready to stand and take on any obstacle that any normal cat would stop and reconsider approaching. In some ways, this grants him a boost in both initiative and morale, able to handle very draining tasks. In other ways, it leaves him vulnerable to unnecessary risks.
|
━━ HISTORY When Tinypaw's mother died, it was a shock to everyone. No less her children, now without the only parent they'd ever had only a short ways into their apprenticeships. How was a cat so young supposed to deal with a loss so great? At the funeral procession, face tucked into his brothers' shoulders as he wept, Tinypaw tried to make sense of why, why, why this would happen. If the clans were great and mighty, blessed by Starclan and performing a feline's most noble duties for one another, then why would his mother be taken away? A strong warrior, respected by all her clanmates? What could have gone so wrong? Without an answer to give, he had to find his own. It wouldn't come for a long time, with Turtlepaw coddling him every step of the way, coddling even when he didn't need it. When they'd still been in the nursery, it'd been him who stuck up for his brothers, both crybabies in their own rights, when Turtlekit started trouble and Fawnkit ran away from it. Tinypaw used to be the one to be brave and true and sincere, just like Scarletglow always praised him for being at such a young age. Letting his brother mother him was a temporary comfort, but it wouldn't bring their real mom back. It wouldn't help him become the warrior he knew Scarletglow had wanted him to be, the one he needed to be to protect the rest of his family. Because at the end of the day, the answer had become clear. Scarletglow died because she'd been stuck taking care of them. She died because she rushed into duties too soon, without proper escalation, and her stagnation in the nursery had softened her.
She died because he hadn't grown up fast enough to keep it from happening.
From that moment, Tinypaw stepped out of the shadows. He had to- Because he saw the same thing happening to Turtlepaw, stagnating away taking care of them when he should've been focusing on himself. He saw something terrifying in the making, and he knew he had to get back on his paws before someone else was lost to his own helplessness. Startling his siblings, he leapt into the spotlight with reckless abandon, and began his training in earnest. There was no room to grieve anymore, no room to cry in his nest and whisper to his siblings about how much he missed Scarletglow. It was pathetic. It was useless. He was useless if he was just moping around, he was a burden if he couldn't stand on his own. If he could just smile wide enough to get Turtlepaw off his back, to give some hope to poor Fawnpaw who always looked at him with such big, worried eyes, then maybe their family could be put back together again. Maybe they could all just be normal siblings if they turned their back on the absence overshadowing them, and focused on becoming the warriors they should have always been. A warrior didn't get down in the dumps, and a warrior certainly didn't need their past to make a happy present.
Cats died all the time. It was time to grow up and quit acting like a dead mom gave him the right to be sad, when so many others had lost so much more.
Maybe he should be more like Turtlepaw, and wear a brave face until it turned real. Scarletglow always put Sunclan first; She'd be happy if he could do the same, after costing her the life and labor that should've lasted her clan for moons. He owed them every ounce of effort that'd been lost with his mother, double the effort, who never would've died if she hadn't been distracted by him, helpless him. Now, Sunclan had been robbed, and it was in his paws to make it right. Maybe that was why things had to be this way- to teach him a lesson about what came first. Not your feelings, not your losses, not your heart. Because even if you died, the clan remained. Even if you broke and shattered and could never be put back together again, the clan would outlast you. The clan was eternal. The clan is eternal.
Maybe some extra training would take his mind off things.

━━ MISC.
● A hopeless romantic, Tinyleaf forms crushes very easily, albeit rarely follows up on them. He's a big dreamer and a bigger lover, always partial to relationship gossip shared in confidence and known to fawn over any cat who treats him well, even if it's nothing more than a fleeting fling. He's not immune to a pretty face in any capacity, but prettier words will sweep him off his paws and make him all the more eager to please that special someone for the week or so it lasts. In this way, he also tends to be vulnerable to outside influences... For the time being, though, nothing harmful has come from this. What could be wrong with love? ● On a related note, actual commitment to a relationship is something intimidating! Although Tinyleaf dreams of feeling understood by others, he doesn't expect to be liked if he falters in his position as a warrior, and as such, shies away from any actual reciprocation, romantic or otherwise. He prefers to connect in private and let those feelings go with the tides of time. That way, there's no harm to be had. Romantically, he's much more comfortable with inconsequential attraction than anything further. There's just no beating the fantasies your own mind can conjure! ● Due to his self sacrificing nature, Tinyleaf has a bad habit of undermining his own health and wellness. He's prone to let his physical state fester and exhaust before actually taking care of himself, and is willing to take risks for his clanmates that he would never allow in return. Thankfully, Fawnheart keeps an eye on him for signs of dehabilitation. ● Named initially for being the firstborn kit and so unexpectedly small, Tinyleaf's warrior suffix was garnered from his pasttime climbing trees- Usually excused as a hunting technique, but secretly just to feel the thrill of being somewhere up high. The rush of adrenaline knowing how easily you could fall... maybe isn't healthy, necessarily, but it's the one form of recreation he seeks for himself. That controlled form of fear, negativity held in his own paws and inconsequential to anyone but himself... is cathartic in its own way, when he can't allow himself to feel it otherwise. So long as his attraction to danger keeps him within Sunclan borders, there's nothing to worry about!
● Favorite prey is squirrel!

(/) Soft spoken, cautious, and forgiving
(-) Flighty, insecure, and withdrawn
● (+) Albeit a quiet, shy type, these traits have their own virtues in a world predominated by political tensions and flashing claws. Although not the only cat in Sunclan with a soft heart, Fawnheart's soft at every corner. As muted as their responses can be, obscured by ambiguous faces and words left unsaid, you don't need many words to be kind to others. If there's one thing they've learned since their mother's funeral, it's that sometimes, sitting in silence with someone you care about can speak volumes more than any awkward eulogy could. A shoulder to lean on, Fawnheart is deeply loyal and utterly concerned with the few lives that touch his. If you're so fortunate as to break past his cautious exterior, you'd find yourself with a companion you'd never need to fill the quiet with. They'd be happy just to sit and exist by your side. While all cats have their complexes, he wears his tucked away, fully geared towards himself rather than the cats around him. Nonjudgmental and willing to at least try to understand, even when it takes him a while to think things through, they're the type of cat who, once bonded, will always be there to back you up. If there's one thing that can coach their claws out of those tentative sheathes, it's a swipe in defense of beloved friend. In the meantime? When there's so much hustle and bustle about law and order, their indifference to these subjects spares him a whole lot of heart ache. At least, for all their self-directed worries, Fawnheart has little else to fuss over but making sure their friends are okay. Slow to trust but endlessly devoted, their disregard towards clan culture equates to unconditional love and support for whomever earns it.
● (-) Although no queen has the foresight to accurately name a kit at birth, Fawnheart grew into theirs like a mold shaped just for him. By the time they were only a few moons old, it was clear to everyone that little Fawnkit's temperament was here to stay. Although not a coward in the face of danger- he got his warrior name like any other- Fawnheart is notoriously reserved, speaking very little even among his littermates and participating even less in chaotic clan activities. Even so much as overhearing their name in relation to an upcoming patrol can send the little cat skittering away, off to swap places with Tinyleaf, who's never reluctant to pick up the slack. As much as he considers himself capable when push comes to shove, there's a part of him that can't even seem to find fulfillment in the tasks that occupy so many of his peers' time. It leaves them wondering what's wrong with themselves that they'd prefer to just stay in camp, or why they might lack the same taste for blood that even new apprentices seem to relish. Aware of his own differences, Fawnheart copes through isolation. It's not a lonely exile; They'd rather be at peace by themselves than risk the strain of a conversation they can't authentically connect to, eternally at a disadvantage when it comes to most social cues. But he'd be lying if he said it didn't get to his head sometimes. It's hard to feel like you belong somewhere when the best option seems to be hiding yourself away. It leaves them with a distinct skittishness that hasn't seemed to remedy even this far into their warriorhood.

| Fawnheart is able to move very quietly among the Sunclan brush, but also among their own clanmates! Although not consciously stealthy, their silent paces grant them an advantage in hunting more sensitive prey, as well as sneaking away from patrol assignment! If they were a more violent warrior, this could be a dangerous ability. Luckily, it's just sweet Fawnheart!
| Not a universal skill, but a skill regardless, Fawnheart is able to very effectively defuse situations between cats he is comfortable speaking with. While this is currently reserved to their brothers, it is an inherent talent that could someday be put to better use with a little more confidence.
| Soft spoken, mindful, and full of patience, Fawnheart has the perfect temperament to help out around the nursery, although he rarely has the courage to ask directly. While not the most exciting, playful cat for kittens to hang around, they have a knack for helping to communicate with and pacify younger cats still in need of some gentle guidance.
| While slow in battle and slower to react, adequate warning and opportune timing leaves any enemy at risk for Fawnheart's aggressive counter. Buffed during ambush, Fawnheart will tire easily from a prolonged fight, but swings like a bear if underestimated. ━━ HISTORY If there was one way to sum up Fawnkit's youth, it'd be the usual phrase. Mom, Fawnkit's crying again! Although Turtlekit may have been the most obvious outlier of the nursery, Fawnkit was on the opposite side of the spectrum. While most kittens grew out of their bleary eyes and kneading paws, Scarletglow's little ginger was an exception. As their siblings seemed to grow bolder and braver ever day, he remained particularly underspoken. Partially because Tinykit did most of the speaking, and partially because there was nothing they could say that didn't seem to lead to feeling overwhelmed. Despite the trio sharing the same age, Fawnkit was the definitive baby of the group, garnering some extra nurture from his mother and matching brother as a result. There was no amount of tears that Turtlekit could prod out of him that his other family members couldn't help to soothe! Just a child at the time, none of these facts were known to them. They merely knew that the world was big, wide, and full of many stressful things! It was only closer to apprenticeship that he found his most comfortable position as Tinykit's shadow, dodging most of the strain of living through the chipper defense of their much tougher brother. One of them, anyway. Growing close became an inevitability, the way their third sibling turned up his nose as he got older and more embittered by the consequences of his early teasing and taunting. But Fawnkit didn't mind it, much. They loved everyone in the nursery, even the brother who wasn't glued to his flank.
..Sometimes, it was a bit of a relief. When Fawnpaw was apprenticed, it was a disappointment. Somehow, he thought if he clung to Tinypaw tight enough, the clan might forget he existed at all and only apprentice the one of them. While training wasn't hard necessarily, it was hard to muster up the spirit for their duties that they were expected to have. Harder after. Well.
Without a mother, everything seemed to change overnight. Turtlepaw was different. Tinypaw was different. Everything was, so why not him?
They figured the best they could do is keep going. Even if mom couldn't lick their ears anymore. They still had each other, with Tinypaw as doting as ever, and Turtlepaw claiming their empty side like a puzzle finding completion. It was nice, for a while. Being treated sweetly, protected like a treasure. It felt like the nursery. Even during training, Shadepool was nice enough to consider her apprentice's request and allow the three to tackle most of their training as a team. Always together, playing and learning and exploring. With both their siblings at their side, it began to feel like maybe apprenticeship didn't have to be so bad. Maybe, working together, there was meaning after all in the synchronized motion of three trainees executing a perfect pincer attack. Daily life began to feel fun. Until suddenly, it didn't. Despite training alongside one another, why was it that his brothers constantly seemed to speak over him? Constantly made to guard him like he hadn't performed the same swipes they had just the afternoon prior. A part of them knew- There was a comfort to it, for the two. Protecting someone, something, when everything else felt helpless. But having two suffocating presences geared their way, felt.
..Insulting, maybe. As they got older, it became more difficult to reconcile the behavior of their brothers with their shared skill level as apprentices. If anything, Fawnpaw was even better at mock battles than Turtlepaw was- Are you holding back on me? Better than scenting for mice than Tinypaw, who always seemed to lose focus- Huh? Were you watching me instead?.. Either way. Whatever he'd done to garner the coddling, the charm was swiftly fading. Even a runt grows out of the nest, in time. But how was he supposed to say as much? How do you tell the cats you love most that you want some time to yourself? Time that you've never had? And all the while, an awareness seemed to grow between the three, but no less in Fawnpaw, who began to recognize the underlying motives of every twitch of the whisker his way. The way Turtlepaw only seemed to smile when he felt eyes on him, the way Tinypaw's pelt seemed to shiver with discomfort when he noticed, too, but still pasted on the same face and said the same thing every morning about bright days and brighter opportunities, all the while kicking Fawnpaw awake with nightmares- And just how much do you take of all that? Why bother? Why, since they'd been born, had it always been like this?
Was it his fault?
Whatever weakness they might have seen in him, either projected from themselves or seeded in a spoiled past, Fawnpaw wanted nothing more of it. Wanted nothing more of being treated like a baby by cats who were still in training themselves, for Starclan's sake. It made no sense. It hurt. It hurt so much seeing everyone put everything aside for them, so much so that it was easier not to say a word in complaint if it meant dodging two sets of eyes boring into his pelt with those scary, desperate stares which would sacrifice their own dreams just to uplift a cat who didn't have any.
I'm nothing like either of you. And that's okay. But.. Somehow, when warriorhood finally came and went, and everything seemed to snap out of place, it was almost a relief.
At least now, bearing fresh scars, they all knew how each other really felt. At least now, Fawnheart could start comforting them back. It wasn't as if there were anyone else that mattered in this world which only seemed to reject their every effort. And yet. Almost a relief.
.
Is it okay to yearn for something that never existed? There won't be much longer until even Tinyleaf can't keep up the charade. He often wonders what'll happen, at that point. Just how much "being twins" really means to someone who's never had anyone else. At least, if it ends one day, he'll know he did everything he could. Maybe Turtlefang might talk to them again, even. For now, there's no point putting his energy towards a clan he only cared about two members of. They're not an apprentice anymore. None of them are. However fake the unity, it was the only thing spurring them towards giving a rat's tail about any of this. Without it? Well. They can manage. Even if it's boring. They wonder if the others could claim as much. No matter how they both push and pull, it doesn't change the clinging. Just because the chains have lengthened doesn't mean they've come undone just yet. Maybe one day they'll test the boundaries. Maybe one day they'll tell Tinyleaf to stop it, to do something meaningful for a change, to stop acting like they can really be all that close while he's still hiding behind the same smile that even Turtlefang left behind once they were promoted. But. Right now, it's nice to have someone to be beside. A reason to wake up in the morning, when nothing else seems to matter. Tinyleaf doesn't know how to be alone yet. Not like they do. So for now, it should be alright to stick together a little longer. Because as much as they hate being babied, hate being used as the constant excuse, the constant reason without any agency on their own, they hate seeing their brothers cry a lot more.
For all the baggage they share, it doesn't change that.
And after so many moons spent wailing in the nursery? Well. They don't want to be the reason their remaining family joins the habit. They're bigger, now. They've grown up, even if it took some extra time. And they're ready to start taking some initiative in the lives that have been wasted propping his up.

━━ MISC.● Fawnheart loves nurturing other cats, giving him a soft spot for kittens and an inclination towards aiding the elderly, even long past his apprenticeship. As if to make up for how long he's gone being cared for by his brothers, he feels happiest when he can return the favor, and secretly would love to have a litter of his own one day... he only wishes he could be a queen himself, at times, with how nice it'd be to be a caretaker as his main role. Not that he'd ever voice it, of course. ● A domestic soul, Fawnheart prefers camp duties to the typical lifestyle of hunting and fighting. He feels there's a lot more to do taking care of the quality of life for cats who may not be able to leave the camp, and feels proud taking up that mantle when many other warriors are busy with out-of-camp duties.

In addition to his ears, Cloverthroat stands at a taller stature due to his long legs. ● Missing three claws on a front paw, with a chronic limp that comes and goes to the same limb. ━━ INJURIES/ILLNESS● n/a »» PERSONALITY(wip)━━ HISTORY Born to a pair of noble warriors, Cloverkit was set from the very start of his life to be a proud and productive cat within the clan. Apprenticeship was a whiz with the extra tips from his mother and father to guide him, and Cloverpaw always had a natural advantage in hunting due to his interesting body structure. His promotion was long anticipated, until... the young apprentice was struck with a strange infection which damaged his lungs and left him in the medicine cat's den for half a moon, thought to be in Starclan's paws. It's thought that Cloverpaw's ambition to grow into a warrior worthy of his family is what finally shook the illness from his pelt, but even after recovery, he was never quite the same- It took quite a toll on his respiratory system, including intense damage to his throat and vocal chords. It's only thanks to the help of the resident medicine cat at the time that the apprentice managed to regain his speech through daily conversation, most of which entailed countless stories from Cloverpaw's fever dreams. It was these recitations that pushed him through his muteness and back into vocalization, although his voice would always remain cracked and difficult to hear without an intent ear. After his recovery, Cloverpaw leapt back into training, and took his assessment by storm. In spite of his weakness, he had passed, taking the name of Cloverthroat as a symbol of his strength that had grown in spite of that dreadful illness, as well as paying homage to the story telling that had begun to make him so well liked throughout the clan. In spite of his popularity and handsome appearance, however, the tom never once took a mate, instead choosing to serve out his position dutifully. Some speculate that it may have been his scary voice, grown more raspy with age, that might have shaken she-cats from ever taking interest in him. Cloverthroat never seemed to mind, in any case. He would have served for many more moons had it not been for another unlucky day where, on a speculative walk alone, the warrior encountered a mountain lion strayed from the peaks! The caterwaul Cloverthroat emit that day was one of the only moments in which he seemingly overcame his damaged voice, and it was from that sound alone that he was saved. Although his clanmates were late to the fight, they managed to drive off the cougar terrorizing him, but the scars from that battle would accelerate his path to the elder's den. Vicious swipes across the spine and throat, claws torn from his toes in his effort to fight back, and a twisted limb... It was bad. Although he managed to nurse his leg back to health, he gained a limp that would come and go depending on how far he pushed himself, and eventually, he found it in his best interests to remove himself from the ranks of the warriors a few moons sooner than planned, with the expected duties beginning to become detrimental to his health. It was safer, he was reassured, to stay in camp, where his leg wouldn't betray him at a critical moment. He wasn't entirely sure how he felt about that. Nowadays, Cloverthroat seems alright in his new role, although his early retirement has left him restless even at his elderly age. No matter the challenges he faces, Cloverthroat will always be eager to offer a helping paw to Sunclan regardless of his condition, even if it means stubbornly disobeying the pleading of others to stay in his nest and let other cats handle camp responsibilities. ━━ PLOTTING

━━ MISC.- A total collapse of Calam's sense of identity has left the cat with delusions of grandeur that manifest in the form of a massive god complex; Calam sees the inhabited body as merely a temporary vessel until the time for 's ascension arrives. This does not, however, prevent a good deal of dysphoria related to this sense of disconnect between the physical self and the believed to be divine soul.
