~~~ Nightpaw wrinkled his nose at the display of affection. Yeah, all adults seemed to do it just to mess with younger cats, but it didn't seem to lessen the effect. When you're older, when you're older, the common response with humored grins, but Nightpaw was still younger. He took a gentle swat at one of Wolf's ears, narrowing his eyes slightly as if the large cat would be able to see his disapproving expression. โOkay, but in that case, why not just join the Clan? That's what Dad did, and he's got wayyy less scars than you.โOf course, if they did that, he didn't get to sneak out into neutral territory. Conflicting points. |

Wolf chuckled. Because I'm asocial, have trouble communicating with others, and am not sure how well I'd fit in, seemed too long and complicated of an answer, and should probably be left as part of a conversation for another time. "Because I live for the danger," she said instead, puffing her chest out proudly.

~~~ He recoiled briefly at the answer - it wasnโt quite the expected one. Still, he was quick to bounce back, looking down at his perch with awe. A little observation for good measure. โWell, your coat does still have color,โ he noted as he laid his head down on the cinnamon fur of Wolfโs head, in between their ears. A nice fit for a little cat. โHard to say if the gray is from color-eating-monsters, or just being old, though.โ There wasnโt really any venom in the statement, though it further sold Nightpaw on the idea that Frigidheart made up the color eating. Xe was notoriously evil, after all. โโฆ since Iโm learning to become a warrior, will I learn to fight the stuff thatโs out here?โ |

Frigidheart laughed good-naturedly at the comment, staring to pace a little as they talked. "Yes, I suppose you may have to." It made a show of circling the two as it talked, voice gaining a playful tone. "But don't you think you should start with the dangers lurking closer to home?" Xe mewed dramatically and faux-threateningly. Obviously, it was all very light-hearted.

~~~ Nightpaw rolled his eyes playfully. โDonโt worry, Iโve already got plans for you,โ he boasted, grinning. Readying himself as best he could from his perch on Wolf, he bunched himself up and leapt at Frigidheart. The intent of the action was to land in a play-attack on the elderโs back, and to then have a moving mount. Unfortunately, it seemed that leaping off of other cats was not the most viable or wise plan. Instead of the planned graceful pounce onto a grayed out mane, Nightpaw found himself tumbling through grass and into a tree. โOw.โ The deadpan was maybe a sign heโd spent too much time with these two, but it wasnโt as if he was seriously hurt. It just made his side sore and bruised his ego. He sprung back up to face Frigidheart and Wolf Spider, fur puffing with an embarrassed defiance. โBelieve me- youโll never see it coming.โ |

Frigidheart's face fell, watching worriedly as the little cat soared then gracelessly tumbled through the undergrowth. It approached the scene worriedly, visibly relieved when Nightpaw seemed to be fine. Xe laughed, playful and relived that the apprentice wasn't hurt. "Oh, I'm sure."

Wolf mirrored his mate's worry, and subsequent relief at Nightpaw's actions. As Frigidheart spoke, Wolf approached the defiant apprentice gently, glancing over him for any apparent injuries.

~~~ Nightpaw shook out his long pelt, ruffled under the careful gaze of Wolf. He reared up, trying to gently swipe a paw at her muzzle. Tragically, they were about three times his size, and he only succeeded in swiping at some chest fluff. Good enough. โHey, I'm fine! I have to be durable to stop all your evil schemes,โ he stated proudly. He dug around in his memory for training type words that Stormfade had used in their short time being paired up, looking for a convenient way to spin things. Something to keep things going. โI'm just saving my good jumps for when I have to save the Clans from your evil claws. Really... really getting to know the terrain.โ Perfect. |

Frigidheart watched the display with affection, stifling a laugh. "It's good to be prepared, little shadow." It circled the two as it talked. "You never know when danger might..." Xe paused, making a show of lowering xemself and bunching xeir muscles. Though they still weren't as fast as they used to be, they still slowed intentionally, wanting to give the apprentice plenty of time to react. "...leap out."

~~~ Oh, he recognized that posturing. That wording- unsubtle as always, gramps. Dropping down quickly and bunching himself up in accordance to recent training, Nightpaw grinned playfully. โTrust me, I'm all the danger this place can handle,โ he retorted, leaping up at Frigidheart. This jump was, in fact, a good one, successfully clinging on to a clump of mane and making a show of play-biting the elder's shredded ears. As much as there was available for the "attack", anyway. He'd have to be strategic, what with the size difference. Too bad he hadn't trained much. |

"AHCK." The old cat yelled loudly, much louder than was warranted for a few play bites to the ears, playing up its reaction to the attack. Xe made a show of half-heartedly attempting to throw the little cat off, not putting much effort into the movement. Smirking, they made the effort to lift themselves onto their hind legs, presumably taking Nightpaw with them. "Oh no, what a perilous position." It mewed dryly. "I hope I don't fall and squish my little attacker."

~~~ With Frigidheart's shift in balance, Nightpaw felt briefly weightless before needing to cling with all his upper body strength. "Let's see how you get out of this one,โ he mewed as triumphantly as he could when he was dangling. In a real fight the true peril may be for Nightpaw, but he would never acknowledge it. His grand plan thought up on the fly was that he'd just drop down so that he could leap onto Frigidheart's exposed stomach once they fell backwards. This plan seemed to come with unforeseen complications. The drop... was not smooth. As he released his claws from the clump of mane that kept him from falling, he began the planned descent before a claw got caught. The jolt of the impeded drop sent a sharp pain in his arm before gravity functioned again, leaving him a stunned clump on the ground. |

Frigidheart smirked, before feeling the pull on xir mane from the little cat, shifting xir balance and pulling xim backwards. As xe fell, following xir grandkit suit, xe attempted to change xeir trajectory to keep xemself from falling onto the apprentice. For what it was worth, it worked, though it sent xem into a hard collision with the ground, knocking the wind out of the old cat.
Coughing, it took a pause to catch its breath, somewhat difficult with its flattened muzzle. โNightpaw, are you alright?โ It asked from its spot on the ground, once it could.

Wolf rushed to the two, worry clear in his face. Thankful he had picked up some medicinal knowledge, he started with Nightpaw, examining the apprentice close. He was sure Frigidheart, despite his age, could go a moment longer while he checked their grandkit.
โ...Maybe we should leave the roughhousing to the younger cats.โ She mewed slowly but playfully, trying to lighten the mood.
