⊳ INFANCY (1-2 MOONS)
▸Born into a meager upbringing with his mother, a stray, and a kittypet father who wasn't present.
⊳ CHILDHOOD (3-6 MOONS)
▸A limp came to light as he and his littermates grew, his mother grew more protective of him and they grew closer. His siblings grew bitter with this development and often teased him, giving him the mocking name of "Hop", which he often defaulted to responding to as though it was his true name. He tried to put up with it to stay with his mother, but when she died in an accident he ditched his siblings, not truly giving him the time to mourn.
⊳ ADOLESCENCE (7-12 MOONS)
▸After roaming for some time, he stumbled into clan territories. Met by a patrol consisting of a young Beestar, then Beeglare, Glimmerpelt, and another cat, Mudnose, as well as his apprentice Luckypaw. While Beeglare was quick to try warding him off, Glimmerpelt cooled her flame and Mudnose and his apprentice were somewhat keen on learning more about the stray they stumbled across. After a few days of meeting at the border, telling them his name was Hop, how his mother died and he was alone now, he was formally invited to the clan and faced with the typical trials an outsider may come across. His biggest action during his stay was choosing to keep his old name.
▸When Hop had grown more comfortable in the clans, he realized he had a blossoming crush on Luckypaw, and they began innocent courtship attempts. It was typical showing off and chatting, but they made little vows to be mates when they were both warriors. That day never came though, as a sickness claimed Luckypaw a moon before she would have taken her assessment. Heartbroken, Hop shared his mourning with Mudnose, as he was the only other cat Hop had grown close to.
⊳ EARLY ADULTHOOD (13-24 MOONS)
▸When Hop became a warrior, once more sticking up for his name, things were somewhat stressful. He became a warrior late thanks to a mixture of his limp slowing him down somewhat and starting his apprenticeship late compared to most others in general. He was very much an outsider at heart, not communicating much unless he had to and often going on walks by himself or with Mudnose. He spent most of his time with the older warrior, and often took what he said to heart. When Mudnose began affectionately calling him "Hopper", Hop slowly came clean about his name being Spruce, but made him swear not to tell anyone about it. Not too long after that, they declared themselves mates, or something similar, and things seemed to be at peace.
▸It was no one's surprise that Hop would notice Mudnose being... odd. Slipping out of camp without a word late at night, wandering off from patrols, and Hop could've sworn that he saw him slipping away towards twolegplace. Eventually, other cats reported this to the leader, and it was revealed Mudnose had been trying to organize a coup by telling strays and rogues to slip into the territory and cause issues for the clan. Upon the warrior's exile, he tried to get Hop to leave with him, but was swiftly denied this. Their relationship ended right there, though the tom had vowed to return and collect him eventually, dead or alive.
▸Paranoia led to Hop staying in camp for some time, but, eventually, he needed to stretch his legs, otherwise his limp and joints would get worse, and he may be removed from the clan or made to retire too early. Unfortunately for him, he stumbled across Marrow. While entirely outmatched, he managed to gouge out the rogue's eye before his bad leg was mangled beyond function and his tail was left to shreds. He was left to die, but thankfully was found and placed into a long recovery. Thankfully he was able to keep up being a warrior after the incident, but only just barely, and he wasn't allowed outside the medicine den for some time. He managed to find a friend in Owlwhisker, a somewhat older warrior, who had taken it upon himself to help him during his recovery.
⊳ ADULTHOOD (25-84 MOONS)
▸When he was well enough to return to his duties, and he showed he could manage that well enough, he was given an apprentice. Littlepaw was someone he quickly formed a bond with, which only made it more devastating when Littlepaw died during a fox attack. Owlwhisker offered a shoulder for him, and the two grew very close and nearly inseparable. Hop found a tight sorrow in his chest when his companion eventually came clean about his intentions to leave SunClan quietly, and asked him to say he was taken by a twoleg after drifting too close to the southern lake. He obliged, though he never learned where the other warrior had wandered off to.
