✧ ♬♩♡ ♪♩ Rookbriar ♩♪ ♡♩♬ ✧ Rookbriar was never one for staying still. If she had been, she’d likely still have her tail - but she’d made that work. At least it wasn’t boring. Being a queen, though, at least in the time leading up to kitting? That was boring. It seemed like all she was expected to do was lay in the nursery and hope for her kits to be born. That would be soon, but soon was not now. For now, she contented herself with escaping camp to see if she could manage a bit of hunting for the Clan. She’d passed her warrior assessment the same as any cat all those moons ago, she was a warrior! Kits or not. They would grow up to see how capable their mother was, that was for sure. Or maybe not. She ran through the meadow, enjoying the fresh air, the open space, and the signs of flowers pushing their way into new-leaf. What could be better? Not getting a hind paw stuck in a hole that perhaps once belong to a vole or something else small and vexing. She yowled in surprise as her leg dropped and her frolicking gait was forced to a stop. She winced, the force of it hurting a surprising amount. “Well that’s just great. I’m going to be stuck here until my kits are old enough to dig me out themselves.” An exaggeration, maybe, but it wasn’t as if she’d let anyone know where she was going. Just that she was going for some fresh air. Great. |

Skylarkbee had decided that he would do some hunting on his own. That was better than sitting in camp doing nothing. He wasn't sure if he was jealous of his denamtes that had apprentices or not. One the one hand, they were kept busy. On the other, weren't the younger generation annoying? Maybe he'd never know. The white tabby made his way into the territory, opening his maw to scent the air. At first, he got nothing. That was even more annoying, he lashed his tail. Skylark moved onwards and spotted a mouse up ahead. He crouched low and pounced, catching it by its back. The tom quickly killed it before it could bother a struggle. He was just about to move on again when he heard a sudden yowl to his right. Skylarkbee pricked his ears forward in interest, heading towards the noise with his mouse firmly in his jaws. What he saw made his ears flick back against his head. Just his luck. He had to see one of his clanmates struggling and now he couldn't avoid helping them. Whatever, he thought to himself. Might as well get this over with. Skylark dropped his mouse as he approached, sniffing Rookbriar's pelt. "How'd you manage this?" And just how would he get her leg out? |

✧ ♬♩♡ ♪♩ Rookbriar ♩♪ ♡♩♬ ✧ She gave a slight jump when Skylarkbee approached, not having expected another cat so soon, but gave an appreciative smile once she fully processed a Clanmates had found her. “I wish I could tell you,” she answered honestly, casting a glance at the offending foot before returning her eyes to him. “I was just enjoying the fresh air and the change of the seasons when I felt my paw sink.”Rookbriar wiggled her leg a bit, as if simply reassessing just how stuck it was. It was quite stuck. She scowled at it, like it had done this to her on purpose to remind her queens close to kitting needed to rest. Whatever. “Well, I’m not opposed to biting my leg off,” she offered jokingly, with a wiggle of what remained of her tail. |

Skylarkbee flicked his cyan colored optics back up towards Rookbriar's face. Well, at least she was honest. He let his gaze fall back down. It did seem pretty stuck. Just how was he going to help with this? The white tabby tilted his head as he contemplated his options. "Do you mind if I try and tug you out?" He looked back at her, mainly vying for ideas than for permission. However, he did note that she seemed a lot more hesitant. Was there something wrong? Could she have broken her leg? That'd be disgusting to pull out. He was no medicine cat, nor did he wish to be. Why did this have to be me? And on a day I was actually doing something. Skylark thought bitterly. Cherryfire would have had more luck than I. |

✧ ♬♩♡ ♪♩ Rookbriar ♩♪ ♡♩♬ ✧ She wrinkled her nose a little at his request, but she nodded all the same. “That’s probably a good idea. I might’ve sprained it a little, but that should be fine. I’ll try pulling it out as best I can, too, maybe that’s all we need. A little extra force.” Rookbriar glanced towards the scent of the mouse Skylarkbee had caught, and a little too late felt the twinge of embarrassment. It’d make a funny story someday, at least. With a little effort, she kicked at the hole with her free hind foot, hoping to toss aside a little more of the soil to make her escape easier. Was she sure if it’d help? Not at all, but after pulling, digging sounded like the easiest method of escape. Good to get a head start and potentially make their first option even easier. She took a deep breath and wiggled the stuck foot once more. “Okay, I’m ready.” |

Skylarkbee waited as she situated herself. He sure hoped that this worked out. It'd be a pain if he had to run back to camp to get more assistance. The thought made his mood turn sour. His attention was returned as she spoke once more. "Okay, let's do this."The white tabby made sure to square his legs in a position that would put less strain on both himself and the queen. He bent down to grab hold of her scruff, pausing momentarily before pulling forwards and up. If it was working, he couldn't tell for all he saw was her fur. Skylark couldn't speak either, he could only rely on her feedback. |

✧ ♬♩♡ ♪♩ Rookbriar ♩♪ ♡♩♬ ✧ Skylarkbee’s pulling was accompanied by Rookbriar’s quiet meow of slight surprise, warped by being disgruntled. It wasn’t easy, but as he pulled her by the scruff, she pushed the ground with her free limbs and tugged the stuck foot as best as she could, wincing slightly at the stinging pain. Not like it was anything she couldn’t handle. Aside from that, though, she felt a very sudden lurch forward, and though she couldn’t quite see her foot while her scruff was tugged, about half of it was hit with the sensation of the comparatively cool air gently rustling the fur. “Oh! Look! I think we’re almost there! I think I might’ve gotten it caught on a root or something, but that can’t be that hard to get out of, right?” |

Pikestorm had been on the patrol with Skylarkbee when the other tom disappeared. He grunted, muttering something under his breath before he went to look for his patrolmate.
Following his scent lead him to the scent of another. When they came into view, the tom had to squint his eyes to make sure he was seeing correctly. Was that Rookbriar? Stuck in a hole? What was she even doing out here? Queens weren't supposed to leave camp, especially when they were as close to kitting as she was.
The dark ginger tabby approached the other two felines. "You two look like you could use another paw. How can I help?" He didn't see the need to scold her for her actions. The moment Beestar heard about this, she'd get the scolding of her lifetime. |

✧ ♬♩♡ ♪♩ Rookbriar ♩♪ ♡♩♬ ✧ Rookbriar nodded in appreciation as Skylarkbee left to find more help, only to jump in surprise as Pikestorm approached. “Oh, hello Pikestorm!,” she chirped eagerly. “Yes, I seem to have trapped myself in some little creature's den, and again on a root.” She wiggled her stuck foot as evidence, then smiled sheepishly. This was becoming more of a big deal than she had anticipated. She had only planned on enjoying the change of the seasons. Oops. “I'm almost out! I think. It shouldn't be too hard at this point!” |

Pikestorm shook his head. "I know I probably don't need to tell you, Rookbriar, but you shouldn't be out here so close to kitting." He sighed before taking a step forward. She really was stuck.
"Uh, this is a bit awkward, but I think I can push back while Skylarkbee pulls ya by your scruff." Pikestrom personally wasn't a touchy type of cat, so much so that he didn't partake when others would share tongues. But Rookbriar seemed to be in real trouble, and he'd help where he was needed. "You okay with that?" |

They'd probably put a guard at the nursery or something. “I know, I know, but the nursery is so boring! I just wanted to appreciate the season,” she meowed dramatically, gesturing at the stirring life. She listened intently to his plan, and nodded. “Okay! I'm sure we'll get this mess resolved soon and no one needs to know any different,” she chirped with a purr. “Thank you.” |
