Retro to the gathering thread//
Mosstumble bunched their haunches, green eyes locked in on the tall oak tree before them. There was one branch they could reach if they launched themself just right.
When they were ready the grey-furred warrior leaped forward, claws extended to sink into the tree's bark. They kept their momentum going and began to climb, feeling their shoulders burn as they moved. Mosstumble hooked one paw on the branch and pulled themself up, bringing their hind legs up. They boosted themself onto the branch, settling in and relaxing.
They sometimes wondered what it'd be like to be a bird. The territory must look tiny from so high up in the sky. Being up to fly, never tethered to the ground below. It must be so freeing, they thought.
Before they could get further lost in their thoughts, they heard a crack from beneath them. Mosstumble looked down just in time to see themself plummeting towards the ground, hitting it with a heavy thud.
Mosstumble heaved, feeling as though they couldn't breathe. They opened green eyes, the territory spinning around them. Slowly, Mosstumble began to pick themself off the ground. They gingerly set down a paw, wincing as they tried to put weight on it. Damn. Must've fell on it wrong.
The warrior sighed, realizing they'd be limping their way back to camp now.
