It was a strange feeling, not remembering for which purpose he had left or what he may have learned, it was as if he had been somebody else until the tall grass of the woods finally brushed his belly again, memories distant and certainly not his.
How strange, to have been gone for two moons and yet feel as if you had not aged a day. As if it had been just yesterday he had left. He must have let Pansystar know of his journey, for none had come looking for him in the mountains - how had he managed to survive up there for so long despite the lack of easily caught prey? How strange.
Still, he entered camp peacefully, quietly, as if only returning from a hunt or a walk, as if he, the deputy, hadn't been missing for two moons.

PANSYSTAR The past two moons without Needlesong has been strange for Pansystar. A Clan should always have their deputy, commanded by the warrior code. But as the Clans walked further into the darkness each day, Pansystar was beginning to feel the warrior code lose its meaning in her eyes. So when he said he needed to leave, she accepted. He had done so much for MoonClan already, if he needed his time, who was she to stop him? This morning had began no different than the others for Pansystar. Wake up, organize some patrols, simple enough. She had just organized the sunhigh patrol when she caught a flash of deep red fur in the corner of her eye. She turned her head and was unable to believe her eyes. "Neeldesong?"She rose to her paws and padded over to the deputy. It really was him. 'You're back. He could only respond with a tired smile, "I cannot rightly say, I'm afraid." He hummed, turning his head towards the mountain, "strange that I would return without memory, no? I wonder what I might've experienced up there for this to happen."
He shook his head with a sigh, "no matter. What has happened in my absence? I am ready to return to duty this moment if you need."

｡☆✼★━━━━ Foxlily ━━━━★✼☆｡ Having heard Pansystar's voice, Foxlily came trotting out from her den to see Needlesong's return for herself. Once her eyes caught his red coat and his voice reached her ears, her tail curled with joy and a wave of relief washed over her body. “Welcome back!,” Foxlily called as she trotted up beside Pansystar, taking a cursory glance on Needlesong's physical health so that she wouldn't invade his space nor leave such a critical thing entirely unattended. It prompted an offer. “You look alright so far, but I could always take a more thorough look at you later. Might give us some insight on that memory loss.” |

Something in his eyes seemed to change at the offer, and a pleasant smile crept upon his lips, "we- I would appreciate that, thank you." He dipped his head in a respectful nod.

PANSYSTAR Pansystar was alarmed to hear the claim. Whipped memory? "Do you think you might've been injured?" she asked the deputy. Shortly after, Foxlily arrived. Pansystar smiled to the medicine cat, dipping her head to greet them. You look alright so far. Classic Foxlily. Needlesong had been back for hardly a heartbeat and she was already looking him over for wounds. She was always so caring like it. It was probably part of what made them such a good medicine cat in the first place. Before she could get too lost in admiration, Pansystar noticed Needlesong saying something strange. We? The deputy had come alone, so who was he talking about anyway? Pansystar's ears twiched, but she didn't question him about it. He was probaby just tired from his journey. "We'll get you up to speed later, Needlesong. It's probably best you let Foxlily take a look at you." She rose to her paws, ready to move on form the conversation.
