⋆⁺₊⋆ ex-moonclan ─ loner? ─ she/her ⋆⁺₊⋆ ⬤xxMistystep had been gone from MoonClan for a while now. Shortly after receiving her warrior name, she had straight up vanished in the night, after thinking of it for so long.
⬤ A few cats noticed, some searched, some joked that she'd gone back to the Twolegplace. But nothing changed the fact that she was gone.
⬤ She felt alone, unsafe, even more so than in the forest, running between alleys and gardens, mewing at twolegs when bad luck struck and she made no catch, without her clanmates, without the stars, without anything. She felt at home under the trees, not in this place she'd been born in.
⬤ Mistystep made up her mind after seeing an oddly familiar cat, who mumbled some scary nonsense at her. And also a bunch of loneliness and missing her friends. Her clan..

In the days since Mistystep has left, life had become so confusing for Mosstumble. They were a warrior now, and that should've brought them some stability. But for whatever reason StaraClan willed, it hadn't. Their dreams reflected their struggles. They always felt awkward, like their efforts hadn't been enough. Like they...
Mosstumble had been musing to themself while padding through the forest. They stopped dead in their tracks when a familiar scent hit their nostrils. Mistystep... Their eyes widened as they immediately began to track the scent. She had been here! The one cat who seemed to get Mosstumble, even when they didn't fully understand themself.
"Mistystep!" They called out her name, praying for a response. |

She had hoped to find one of her former clanmates, at the same time as she feared seeing any cat. What would she do if she found someone? Who would she even find? Would they even accept her back?..
⬤ Her ice-blue eyes darted away from the grassy ground as she heard something- someone called her name. She didn't freeze in fear or fluff up in alarm- she recognized that voice.
—..Mosstumble?
⬤ She mewed in disbelief, padding silently but hurriedly towards them. She kept her tail low, however, though her ears were pricked forward. She was a little hesitant, but still went on forward.

Mosstumble thought their eyes had deceived them. But no, it was really her. "Mistystep!" they meowed as they ran up to the molly. "Where have you been? We all went looking for you, but we couldn't track you down. Have you been okay?"
They remembered the long nights on patrol, calling out her name into the marsh, praying for a response. But each night they still received no response. Mosstumble remembered bitterly thinking about how she must've ran back to her twoleg owners. That was a different Mosstumble, or at least that's what they liked to think. All cats needed to find their own way, and they tried to understand that. They were hurt, that's all. That's what some of the elder's had told them anyway.
Pushing the dark cloud of negative thoughts away, Mosstumlbe went on to ask. "What are you doing here? Are you come back? To MoonClan?"
Of course MoonClan, idiot. Where else would she come back to? |

-- I'm alright- um, I.. I went.. back to the Twolegplace.
⬤ She mewed, lowering her gaze to her dark gray paws, ashamed, as her voice became quieter. Her ear flicked, and still avoiding the cat's eyes, she mewed.
-- I'm sorry I left.. But.. yeah. I.. the Twolegplace isn't for me- I missed MoonClan so much. But I don't know if I'll be.. um, welcomed back. But I'm.. I'm going to try.

Mosstumble's eyes widened. She really did go back to twolegplace... It was then Mosstumble became aware of how much worse she looked from when they had last seen her. What happened while she was there?
Mosstumble shook their head at her apology. "It's okay. You're home, that's what matters. I'm sure everyone will be really happy to see you!" How true that was, Mosstumble didn't know. Pansystar would be welcoming. Foxxlily and Thunderwillow probably would too. The rest of the Clan was a different story. Mosstumble could hear their sneers already. Damn them if they judge her. I'm sick of losing Clanmates. They looked at her and felt their gaze soften. Especially ones like Mistystep.
They turned around to lead the way, hoping she didn't think they were starring. "Come on, let's get you home." |
