RABBITSTAR Leaf-fall was proving itself to be shockingly exciting already. As he leapt up to give his announcement, he felt his chest shudder with the excited buzz and electric pride that accompanied the news. “All cats capable of catching their own prey, gather around for a Clan meeting!,” he called into the clearing, curled tail enveloping itself with the joy that otherwise presented itself as a calm smile. As the Clan gathered beneath him, he prepared his words until he was satisfied with the turnout. “You all may have noticed or caught wind of cats leaving their dens at night for official business. The night patrol was an experiment in the effectiveness of sending cats out in hours reserved for sleeping, to keep our Clan better fed and safer. I'm proud to announce that the night patrol has been successful, and so it will be officially added to the patrol rotation with the three previous daily patrols. If you think you'd like to work on a dusk or night schedule, please speak to either Swanmask or myself. If you'd rather keep the current day-based schedule, I'd encourage speaking up about it as well. The idea is to have patrols that better fit the variety of SunClan warriors.”He'd hate to wear out the cats who were currently so frequently going out on the night patrol, after all. For the first moon or so, any night patrols would have at least one member of the founding group with them, so as to keep their Clanmates aware of just what they were handling in the foreign span of the night. Now, there was other business to attend to. “Speaking of our warriors, there are promotions in order so that they may one day get to be warriors.” He scanned the crowd, eyes settling on Rookbriar, nuzzling and seemingly trying to soothe her kits - or herself. Seedkit - Sunclan kit
Seedkit was confused on what was happening, seeing everyone around her it was odly strange
but the kit stepped forward as she was told and sat down again. The kit looked around for a little bit waiting while everything was so slient she kept slient seeing as it was probaly the best idea to do so.

Your mentor,” he flicked his tail for Crowflame to come forward, with a brief glance towards her, “shall be Crowflame. I hope she’ll teach you all that she’s learned.”… and that she’ll stop causing strife over Iceglow having an apprentice, he added inwardly. |

Crowflame's ears perked at the sound of her name, admittedly not having been listening quite as closely as she should have been. It took xem a moment to register the very tiny leader's words, practically shooting up as she understood. Finally, he thought to himself. Someone to impart my vast wisdom onto. They stepped forward, chin held high, flashing one of their well-known smirks.

ROOTKIT ❥ Rootkit, soon to be apprenticed, watched anxiously from his mother's side. He wasn't excited in the slightest, on the edge of too fearful to move. He saw Seedkit- now Seedpaw- go through her whole ceremony, watching a big cat come up and be announced as her mentor. He was intimidated just sitting there, and a beat later he realized eyes were on him and dread settled in his belly again. Oh, he realized, I'm next...
It took a moment for him to stand, warily glancing at his mom before he stepped up to Rabbitstar. The worry was clear on his face, but there was a little voice that urged him on. You can stand here and make a brave face for your mama at least, it said. You're only standing here for a moment, and then you can go right back to her. And so he at the very least tried to look a little less scared, though it still clearly shown in his eyes.

Crowflame flashed Seedkit- now Seedpaw - one of her infamous, wide, occasionally called unsettling smiles. "Hey, kit-o." She mewed quietly to the new apprentice, having already fallen into a new nickname for the apprentice, and leaned down to touch noses with Seedpaw.

The nervous one, as he’d been informed by the frantic Rookbriar. “Rootkit, from this moment until you get your warrior name, you will be known as Rootpaw. Your mentor will be Fawnheart, I hope they’ll teach you all they know.” Rookbriar had hoped a familiar face would help him be more comfortable with the change. Maybe Fawnheart would benefit from it as well. At the mention of the warrior, Rabbitstar gestured for them to join up with the new apprentice. To finish the latter half of the ceremony. |

She was serious?Amidst the back of the crowd, Fawnheart stiffened up with a saucer-round stare that now made an immediate beeline for where Rookbriar sat, as if seeking affirmation for the already sanctified word of their leader. They didn't have time to receive it; A hearty nudge to his haunches sent him forward, legs taking over in automatic stride away from Tinyleaf (just as shocked as they were, but apparently not enough to stop him from giving them a boost). Hurrying through the assembled warriors, they emerged with a ducked head before Rabbitstar and... Rootkit. Oh, wow. Root paw.Already hunched over, it was an easy angle with which to lean in on instinct, mimicking the motion they distantly remembered from their own ceremony moons and moons ago. As gentle as touching the Moonpond, they brushed the tip of their nose with the apprentice's- their apprentice's- as if any more might shatter the both of them into ginger and lilac shards. With the nervous energy seemingly pouring off the little one in waves (or, is it me?), that just might be the case. Fawnheart retreated from the touch in another dip of the head, anxious gaze now flitting to Rabbitstar for cue as they pondered whether or not there was secretly another Fawnheart they had mistakenly taken the place of up here in front of everyone.
Oh, that was a lot of everyone, too. Their pelt burnt with flight response, but standing there with Rootpaw, they stood their ground, practically hearing the cheer of Tinyleaf encouraging him onwards.

Rootpaw is your apprentice now, I hope you’ll teach him all that you know.” With the apparent anxiety of Fawnheart and having had seen Fawnheart’s training, Rabbitstar leaned towards them with a whisper. “You’ll do well together.”With those silent, private words of encouragement as the Clan called Rootpaw’s name, Rabbitstar gestured Leafkit up. |

ROOTPAW& ❥ Rootpaw felt their eyes go a bit wide when Fawnheart was called up, chosen to be his mentor. Fawnheart's gonna be teaching me? he thought to himself. This was the best outcome, a thought reasoned, and he was one to agree with it. A smile appeared on his muzzle after a beat of thought, leaning up a little to reach the ceremonial touch of their noses.
Anxiety was still present in them even with this delightful news, and he spared a hopeful little glance at Rookbriar as Fawnheart straightened up, unaware of her paws in the matter for the moment. He could connect those dots after the little adrenaline rush of the event went down.

The young tom grew more anxious as he watched two of his siblings be called and given their apprentice names they were paws now old enough to be apprentices and to learn new things and now accompanied by their mentors they could go further out of camp than ever before. Leafkit stood silently just the tip of the young tom's tail showing his emotion, though he had already spoken about becoming an apprentice with Turtlefang on the current moon he had been surprised by how fast the time had seemed to move. When Rabbitstar gestured for him to step forward after Rootkit became Rootpaw he allowed them to move before making his way forward ears shifting slightly to try and memorize the words said in this changing time of his life.

Your mentor will be Brookshine, I hope she'll teach you all that she has learned,” he spoke, gesturing for Brookshine to come up to greet her new apprentice. He could see the jolt of white and orange fur, puffed out in surprise. Perhaps it was surprising, she hadn't been a warrior for very long, but this was another request Rookbriar had made. Leafpaw had grown fond of the young warrior, and her gentle disposition offset Leafpaw's analytical mind nicely. Apparently, they'd played together and Leafpaw was likely to listen well to her. That made the decision fairly easy. A nice reward for a loyal cat that needed to come out of her shell - much like Fawnheart. |

- + - Brookshine - + - Huh? Her? She almost asked it out loud, fur puffed with surprise and fear. She'd enjoyed playing with the little tom while he was a kit, sure, and she'd enjoyed teaching him the basics of pouncing but-? Did that really make her qualified to mentor? In any case, Rabbitstar was watching her. Brookshine was compelled to follow his violet gaze, dragged as if ensnared in a web, until she was up in front of the Clan and close enough to lean her nose gently to Leafpaw's. “Brookshine, you have received excellent training and have shown your loyalty and compassion as a warrior. Leafpaw is your apprentice now, I expect you to teach him all that you know,” Rabbitstar spoke, solidifying the moment. Loyalty? The churning anxiety of the time she'd snuck out to join the peace meeting, having run into Pearl - it made her almost dizzy. In any case, she tried to guide Leafpaw back down to the crowd, where they'd be safely nestled among the masses. There were two more kits left to be apprenticed, and she was more than eager to be out of the eyes of the Clan. The cheers for Leafpaw rang deaf in her ears. “I suppose I'll have plenty of time to teach you to pounce now,” she mused silently in efforts to calm her own nerves and show Leafpaw that she was glad to spend time with him. Despite the nerve shattering circumstances, of course. |
