Oh that's just great, Pikestorm thought as his prey ducked into the hollow below. He cranned his neck down, hoping to get a peak of the rabbit's pale fur in the darkness, but it was in vain. The dark tabby comtemplated going into the den himself, but he wasn't sure he would fit. Still, it was leaf-bare and prey was scarce. Anything would help feed the Clan; would it really be right of him to leave this rabbit behind? What if he didn't catch anything else?
Pikestorm was so caught up in his own thoughts that he was too late to notice the fox scents filling the area. He froze instinctively, afraid to look behind him. He heard the creature make a noise, and he slowly turned around to face it. The large red-pelted animal was standing over him, jaws parted in a pant. The dark tabby tried to take a step back, but he felt his paw slip from beneath him.
This upset the fox, and it lunged forward at him, Failing to dodge, Pikestrom felt sharp fangs sink into his shoulder as the fox threw him back. The tom was quick to return to his paws, but the fox was already after him again. Fear had taken a tight grip on Pikestrom as he made the split decision to start running.

Honeypaw Apprentice + He + 11 Moons Even getting a hint of prey’s presence in leaf-bare was proving to be a challenge for Honeypaw, He felt envious of all the little creatures that had decided to simply sleep through it or even leave for the season, but all the envy in the world wouldn’t fill the Clan’s stomachs. Then he heard something. He smelled someone. Pikestorm?
He cautiously looked to where he heard the running, as if the act of looking might doom whatever endeavor the warrior had engaged in. He changed his mind quickly as he saw the fox.
Fear and adrenaline moved his paws before sense and logic did. He gave chase. He bolted away from the mound in the snow he’d been investigating, running as fast as his legs could take him, racing through his thoughts to try to come up with a plan, any plan, to make this fool’s errant anything less than a death trap, to keep them alive, to-
Before he knew it, he’d jumped onto the beast’s back with claws extended, feeling frozen as he tore a few neat gashes in its back and fell off from his own shock. Non-Binary + Bi + Mentor: tba

Pikesotrm stopped in his tracks when a saw a streak of orange dart across the terrain. He whipped around in time to see Honeypaw through himself at the fox. Oh StarClan, the warrior thought, frozen momentarily. Wait until Beestar heard about this! Pikestorm would almost feel bad telling her, just imagining how badly Honeypaw would get chewed out for doing something this reckless. On the other hand, maybe she'd find it brave. Something this brave could even get him his warrior name,
Whatever Beestar's reaction was going to be didn't matter right now; Honeypaw couldn't face that Fox alone. Letting adrenaline fuel him, and ignoring the scorching pain in his shoulder, Pikestrom raced back to where the fox had thrown him. "Pick on somebody your own size," his voice rumbled from his throat.
He braced himself feeling the tension in his haunces before he leaped forward and swiped the fox over the muzzle. Once he landed on the ground, he was able to dodge a snap of the fox's jaws by leaping back. He looked up at Honeypaw. "You alright kid? Did it get you?"

Honeypaw Apprentice + He + 11 Moons “SPEECH” VIOLENCE
Returning to his feet after his fall, Honeypaw gave his pelt a shake as if simply removing the shock from his body. “Not yet,” he answered simply, fur bristling at the prospect. The idea of fighting a cat wasn’t the most appealing to him, but it had sounded doable. Foxes were universally trouble for cats. “Are you okay?” He glimpsed at the gushing red of Pikestorm’s shoulder. He wasn’t sure how likely a retreat was, let alone how long the warrior would hold out in a fight with the beast.
“I think I can distract it long enough for you to run back to camp, and then I can-” he didn’t have time to finish the plan - not that he actually had one to begin with. The fox’s jaws were upon him, catching his forepaw as he recoiled for his retreat. His mind went blank. Plans meant nothing now. Desperation steeled his claws as he swiped at the fox’s hungry eyes with his other forepaw. His hind paws scraped almost aimlessly, frantically, at its throat. Not enough so to bargain for his freedom. He yowled as the fox seemed to only hold onto his paw even more tightly in its own pain. It couldn’t be long until the fox gave up the ghost, though, could it?
