Despite a brief eye of suspicion, Rabbitstar put his mind back onto the topic at paw. “It'll at least be a moon or so. We'll need to work out as much safety detailing as possible, and assess the warriors we're considering choosing... we have to be thorough with something like this. Night patrol was already risky, in our own territory, but to send cats further out... it'll be a good amount of planning.” Really and truly, though, he wanted nothing more than to rush out on his own. To explore it on his own, to get the Clan results as soon as possible.
That wasn't really practical though, now was it?
Turtlefang was right, too, of course. Loyalty is everything. Now more than ever. StarClan's final approval on this, though, Rabbitstar wasn't sure about. When was the last time any cat had heard from their astral ancestors? Not recently, that was certain. If they had, Rabbitstar wasn't aware of it. The stars were quiet, with their silent gleaming above reminding him that he would be watched no matter what. No matter when or where he was. Silently, silently watched.
Anyway.
“You're right about loyalty, though, we shouldn't let the nobility of volunteering cloud our judgement. There are a number of cats who I imagine will volunteer, though how many of them I'd accept... I'm unsure of,” they began carefully. “Take for example, Coyotesprint. Quick, strong, eager to prove herself, Coyotesprint would likely volunteer as soon as she got word. I wouldn't choose her, though, she'd run herself straight into death's greedy claws. I might assess her anyway, out of fairness and respect for her skill, but based on what she's shown me thus far? She'd be more of a hazard than anything.”
Tinyleaf was eager, too. Swift and dedicated, sometimes Rabbitstar felt like he was a chatty reflection of themself. Unlike Coyotesprint, though, Tinyleaf would listen to orders. Tinyleaf stood more of a chance of surviving. If Turtlefang knew something to the contrary, though... well, they hoped he'd share it. He'd hate for the nobility of a volunteer to tear apart a family already pulled so taut.
