It was once everyone else had settled that Hemlockfall moved out of the warriors den, swift and quiet as ever. Many thought he slept in in the mornings because he was getting on in his moons - he could hardly believe himself that he’d gotten to 93 with how reckless he could be - but no, Hemlockfall liked to spend the hours of the night until moonhigh foraging for some of the herbs he had learned to recognize with his many, many visits to the den to have injuries treated.
He decided he’d look for moss first. They had noticed supplies getting low last he went to Foxlily for help, and even if she and Pantherpaw had stocked up recently, a little extra would never hurt.
He quietly made his way out of the clan camp, heading into the forest to see what he could find. |

❥ Chrysalis, quite frankly, would never understand the clan cat's defensiveness of their borders. Nobody could own a forest after all, and yet he'd nearly gotten his ears shredded multiple times for his nosiness. Sometimes he wasn't lucky enough to get away unscathed, quite frankly it was a miracle his curiosity hadn't killed him by now.
Did that stop him? well, no. Which is exactly why he was here now, the dead of night seemed to be the best hour to sate said curiosity. Few cats were out so late after all so as long as he kept aware of his surroundings, his little expedition would be left unimpeded.
Then again he never had been very good at keeping his attention on so many different things at once. And currently his attention had been on the flora and the quiet calls of the forest before he paused, Wait was somebody else out here?

It wasn't too long before Hemlockfall got a whiff of the stranger's distinctly not-Moonclan scent, approaching closer have a moment, "ah," he hummed, "what brings a loner onto Moonclan soil this late at night?" He kept a lax tone and bodily expression as to not alarm the other, even moving closer to pick up a piece of moss near the other's feet.
"Don't you know? Tensions have been high lately, most patrols aren't going to take kindly to wanderers." He chuckled, "especially not after the attacks or the prophecy."
He spared the other another small glance and smile as he added the moss to the little pile he had accumulated. He'd bring it all back to the medicine den eventually, but for now there was a stranger on his clan's soil, and he would like to at least talk them out of following him to the clan camp before he made any further moves.

❥ Well, unnoticed no more it seemed. At least this time it wasn't immediate hostility that he had to deal with. So he showed no hostility, moving back a little for the older cat to pick up the moss at his paws. " Call me curious, i always wondered what lay in the clan cats territory is all. The other lot seemed a good bit more likely to tear off my pelt so here i am." He mewed half-jokingly. Returning a polite smile, though cautious he was intrigued.
"I don't know anything about a prophecy, or whatever attacks your talking about, i'm not usually one to stay in one place." He said with a shrug, watching the other curiously. Seeming to study the situation a moment before piping back up. "What are you doing with the moss?"

"Well, just don't let Badgerthistle find you out here." Hemlockfall chuckled, "he'd tear your throat out as cleanly as they do with their prey." He mused.
"I'm gathering some herbs for the medicine cat. I find foraging at night to be a very soothing activity." He chuckled, "and with the darker moons falling upon us, many are sure to come down with a case of whitecough, so we'll need plenty of moss and catmint." He shrugged, "I see them using tansy and borage sometimes as well, but I can hardly identify tansy so I'll only be picking up borage."
He gave a lax smile, "I'm no medicine cat, though. I just happen to spend enough time around that I notice patterns in what herbs are more needed when, and I enjoy doing this on top of my duties as a warrior. Call it a hobby, if you will."

❥ He cringed slightly at the description. "Charming." He said bluntly, though patiently listened as he talked about medicine cats and herbs. "I'm not one of your medicine cats, but i know how to spot tansy if you need it. Dealing with your own injuries and illnesses for most of your moons has its perks." He half jokes, though he leaves the offer hanging in the air.
Admittedly, he doesn't think it'll be accepted. Clan cats were many things in his short bit of experience, and proud was certainly one of them from what he's seen. No harm in trying though. "Sounds like an admirable hobby. Lot of work though, when do you sleep exactly?" He jokes, pausing to push some moss at his paws towards the older cat.

Hemlockfall let out another small, mirthful chuckle, giving a knowing wink and smirk, "senior warriors are allowed to sleep in in the mornings. I'll gladly let the others think the age is getting to me if I get to enjoy the night like this."
"If you know a good tansy spot, I'll gladly follow," he purred, adding the moss to his little pile, "what's your name, by the by? I think we've managed to forego introductions entirely in this little conversation." He smiled, "I'm Hemlockfall. Proud Moonclan warrior."

❥ "Can't even fault you, think i'd do the same given half the chance." He said with a short laugh, after a moment flicking his tail in a 'follow me' gesture. "Ah right, names, slipped my mind til now." He said after a moment, picking his way carefully through some of the shrubbery. "Interesting name i'll say, mine's Chrysalis." he responded idly, pausing to orient himself.
"So, oh-so-proud moonclan warrior Hemlockfall, whats with the hospitality? I'm not complaining mind you its just unusual, at least in my experience." He added after a moment, not looking at him as he pawed some thick tangles of leaves out of the way. Tansy mercifully was easy to spot for him thanks to its flowers. Holding the leaves out of the way to gesture at the herbs to Hemlockfall.

"Chrysalis, huh?" Hemlockfall hummed, "unique name for an equally unique cat, I suppose." He chuckled. "As for why I'm not chasing you off, I feel no obligation to. Fighting doesn't come easy to these old bones anymore." He chuckled, gratefully starting to collect the herbs pointed out to him, "and besides, you seem like a kind enough cat."
He shot him a small grin, "besides, we're not really using the territories at night to hunt, so nobody would really know anyway."
