“What’s in there?,” Hope asked as she approached the cat sitting on the fence, looking up to follow his gaze. “Have you been in the forest before? Are there weird things?” Her tail waved with the idea, anticipation rippling through her pelt. It hadn’t even gotten into the forest yet, and it might just already learn some critical information. This was going to be easy! She could probably even just go home if the secrets of the forest were too boring. It’d been a day since she’d been out, at this rate she decided it’d only take another moon of searching for answers until she had to make her next move. Easy.

“Have you seen the huge lights from there?”

The other cats didn’t interest her much. Nor did prey or things different than what she was already used to eating - her kibble was supplemented with things that were interesting to eat. What caught her attention, though, was the way that this cat seemed to be familiar with the lights she spoke of. “Is it far from here?,” it asked, blue eyes wide with curiosity. It gestured at the wilderness with its tail. “I’m planning to go that way. I’m going to figure out what they were, and any other mysteries associated. Any idea what I might specifically keep an eye out for?” Surely, if it was all that far, that would be her only obstacle. It couldn’t be too far either, as it had seen the lights - certainly not far enough to deter it.

A direction and a specific clue would certainly speed things up, though.

Clan cats, rogues, loners, foxes - a lot of things for a young house cat to wrap its head around. “I can handle a little danger,” she concluded. “Those lights - I've never seen anything like them after that night. They've got to mean something big, and there certainly aren't answers waiting back at the house. If I want to learn anything, I have to go out there. No other way about it.” Yeah, that was worth a little danger. She was satisfied with that answer, having given a similar one with the other cats she lived with before. It had to chase the truth.

Hunting, on the other paw...

“... well. I caught a dragonfly once.” A dragonfly isn't very filling. “I uh, I figured I'd be able to figure it out on the way. Just needs a bit of practice, right? It can't be that hard, I'm way smarter than a squirrel.”

She waved her tail in interest as he made his offer. She'd been worried he'd try to stop her from going altogether, this was much more favorable! “Sure! Let's learn along the way, though, I want to get to where the lights were as soon as possible.” It moved to head towards the wilderness once more, but turned around to look back at them. “Hey, what's your name, anyway? I'll need to know what to call you if we're traveling together. You can call me Hope.”

Having just left her home, she wasn't terribly worried about the whole eating situation yet. The priority was to cover ground before that became a concern - at least, that was its opinion. It supposed it didn't really know what its temporary teacher would think of that plan. That'd probably be worth a discussion, too.
