Ignorance is bliss. And there was none more innocent than the young. Nettlekit was no exception to this. He knew nothing of gods and the threat of darkness. Sure, he had heard his Clanmates' worried whispers, but more often than not they fell on tiny unwilling ears.
Today, Nettlekit's only worry was how he was going to climb to the top of the nursery before Owlwhisker caught him and made him come down. Since the Clan had moved to the southern camp, all the dens had been freshly reenforced. That meant that the brambles were sharp, and Nettlekit had already managed to slice open a tiny paw pad.
"Awe shoot," he mewed, licking the blood from his paw pad. "Owlwhisker's gonna be so mad."

Needlesong had been sleeping in the nursery by Owlwhisker's side for long enough to at least be aware of her kits, and while he would've usually ignored the little one with how busy his days had been after becoming deputy, his kinship with Owlwhisker made him feel as if he had to do something here.
"Nettlekit?" He called after approaching, "Nettlekit, come down, you might hurt yourself if you keep that up." He huffed, glancing over the structure a moment in an attempt to find his own path up to fetch the kit without causing any injury to himself.
After a moment, he had an idea, "I'm gonna tell Owlwhisker~." He sang.

"hey!" Nettlekit shouted in response to Needlesong. "I don't need that right now! I already cut my paw." He held put a tiny grey paw to show a small slice in his paw pad. "Don't tattle to Owlwhisker! That's mean!"
The small grey kit huffed as he attempted to scramble down from the nursery. "Tattle-tail.. I'm comin I'm comin," he grumbled to himself. The kitten misstepped as he was coming down. His back leg caught in the brambles that made up the nursery walls. "Foxdung," he hissed to himself. Anything Nettlekit did at this point was going to result in pain, so he decided to just get it over with. The little tom ripped his leg from the bramble and immediately felt the wound throbbing with pain. He looked at the bramble and saw that his fur had been left behind.
Nettlekit looked to Needlesong with wide eyes. "Uh, Needlesong? You're not gonna tattle right?"

Needlesong let out a small, tired huff at the sight, carefully picking up the kit, "well, let's get you fixed up at Foxlily's first, yeah? No use leaving a wound like that to fester." He hummed as he began carrying Nettlekit off to the medicine den.
"No use in you climbing around where you might get hurt, you know? You not having enough fun with your sibling?" He inquired after a moment.

Nettlekit nodded in agreement, looking up at the deputy with bewilderment in his eyes. He was surprised when the ginger-furred deputy picked him up, but quickly realized how thankful he was to have the weight off of his leg. The wound was throbbing at this point, a warm sting surging from it with each heartbeat that passed.
It asked about Nettlekit's sibling, and the small kit's whiskers twitched as he thought about it. Nettlekit hadn't even asked them if they'd like to play today, he had just assumed they wouldn't. They'd probably want to just stick around with Owlwhisker, something Nettlekit found really boring. "Phosphorkit is fine I guess. I don't think we like the same things though. Playing with the same cats all the time gets boring too."
