Swallow strode out of her small den under the stars, feeling the grass beneith her paws. She hay down in a moonlit clearing, looking up. Fireflies danced in the sky, a truly perfect moment. suddenly, Swallow's stomach gave a sharp pain, causing her to cry out faintly.
"Why did I come here, this close to my kitting? I should have stayed at the den!" she cursed herself. She lay down, trying to think. This was her first litter of kits, and her whole body was shaking with panic. "Ok you'll get through this..." she calmed herself. "Now to wait."
