Iceleap was tired. Tired of nosy kits and apprentices, tired of snide comments about how he'd twitch and snort, tired of well-meaning cats asking if he needed help when he went out hunting by his lonesome just because he had a small twitch in his step, tired of some still referring to him as Twitchtail - a frankly quite offensive former name he'd gotten changed only moons prior.
That was why he ate by himself these days, only a few paces outside of camp. He'd be easy to find if he was needed, and if not others could just as well keep away. He snorted as he bit into the small bird he'd meticulously picked out from the fresh kill pile, not at all having missed how he was stared at as he snorted out a small insult without his consent for his stupid mouth to move.
The scar across his back ached, he realized after a moment as he rolled onto his side to quell the jerking in his right leg, continuing to rip into the small animal. He'd have to go to the medicine den later, he decided. Preferably under the cover of night to avoid the stares he'd otherwise earn.
