 Mentions: RabbitstarSwanmask had been unable to sleep to pressed to figure out the identity of the strange Moonclan cat that walked among them but two sunrises ago injuring two clanmates, since then she took every chance she could to step out of camp usually bringing an extra body with her just in case from the description given from the two that were injured the cat was tall when they compared it to her they said the two matched in height so long as you minused some of Swanmask's fur as that made her look bigger as well. Her teeth set together she came to a stand still by the river separating the two clan she hadn't wandered to far from the clan camp taking a straight shot to the west in order to get to the river. She looked over at Moonclans territory at the glistening water that separated them completely along the border, though Fallenpetal and Honeyflare had not described a wet or damp cat it could have been a missed detail as they fought. She sighed and watched as the temperatures clashed causing steam like wisps to curl into the night air, she looked down into the river once the wisps disappeared noticing how its running waters caused its own ripples along its surface making the stones along its shores shimmer and look like they were moving. She was not there long before the sound of paw steps reached her ears she shifted so she could watch who emerged from the long grass of the meadow that was behind her, small larkspur flowers peaked out from the long green growth a deep contrast of colour. He was struggling with a similar issue, having been pacing his den when sleep obviously evaded him. He'd heard the sound of a cat leaving, initially planning to ignore it as he didn't need to involve himself in every little detail of other cats' lives, until worry caught up with him. It wasn't safe to be out alone. He slipped out of his den, following signs of the travel. It led up to him coming here. He sat nearby, tilting his gaze up at Swanmask. “You shouldn't be out alone. Mind if I sit with you for a bit?” |

When the she-cat identified Rabbitstar as the one emerging from the tall grass she relaxed her tensed muscles, pale green eyes cast back to the river before her. She knew she shouldn't have left alone but some of the others asked to many questions and her luck she'd get a volunteer of one of the most gossipy ones. So she had decided she would take her chances and go by herself not wanting the conflict that it may bring but seeing no other way to have the time to think to herself, "No sleep wasn't kind to me tonight, seems like a lost ability with everything that's happened." she replied to the tom. "You're welcome to join me if you really want to I was just taking a moment to get away and think." she meowed keeping her voice light and welcoming rather than the turmoil she chose to hide.

✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Rabbitstar *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ Nodding a gratitude, he sat next to the molly and kept his eyes in the direction of the river. “You're free to tell me about anything bothering you,” he noted, stealing a glance at Swanmask. “We have Clanmates to rely on for a reason. If you'd rather just sit in silence to decompress, though, I'd be glad to oblige you. I can't very well order you to do either, after all.” Well, maybe he could, technically, but he wouldn't. Instead, he'd just hope to get somewhere by social connection. His own mind was abuzz with concern, after all. The very instance of becoming leader had been a lot to handle, but everything else that came afterwards, well... he wasn't sure he could have ever been prepared for that. Plans had been sideswept, the night patrol all but forgotten in the chaos until now and his plans for exploring beyond any Clans' territories - well. He hadn't gotten this far in life by shrinking at every challenge. He'd find a way to return things to normal and move forward with his plans for the future of the Clan. In the meantime, Swanmask was here beside him. |

Swanmask tapped her tail lightly against the ground as she thought about things unsure if she really wanted to think them out loud at the moment but would it not also be beneficial to help think them through with another and one that might be having the same thoughts?
"I was just wondering about the cat that claims to have taken Beestar's life, the description is unlike any Moonclan cat I've seen. Which could mean Pansystar never brought them to a meeting within the last 17 moons, its concerning to me." she explained her thinking wondering if maybe Rabbitstar had come to the same conclusion since he had been going to clan meetings longer. She shifted on her paws allowing her body to relax as she moved to lay down not wanting to be above Rabbitstar for to long.

It's a unique appearance, a cat like that would stick out. It is strange to think, then, that that cat has either never gone to a Gathering, or has just... somehow escaped our notice.”He thought about it, ears angled. He'd heard theories that this may be an outsider - but why do something so drastic? So calculated? He'd heard that it may be a warrior acting of their own accord, but why the scene? Why not kill Fallenpetal and Honeyflare if it had truly killed Beestar? His curly tail twitched with the confusion of it all. “Are you of the opinion, then, that that cat isn't a MoonClan warrior?” He asked the question with a neutral tone, not wanting to dismiss the theory but still... baffled by it. Maybe he didn't want it to be an outsider, not when they were preoccupied with the strange threat from those moons ago. If it was, though... well, then older plans would be considered again. |

Swanmask listened carefully before truly thinking it over her thoughts had been scattered but by the sounds of it they had not seen or heard of this Moonclan warrior either which set her fur on edge "No, I don't think it truly was a Moonclan warrior." she replied after a few breaths "It makes no sense about someone outside the clans causing them trouble but also what has made sense lately? these strange occurrences happening with some random cat being spotted and no one can remember seeing them before.." she iterated pale green eyes looking to the sky. Wishing at times like these that their ancestors were not so silent, just a soft sign of a correct decision or path would be nice.

He often found his eyes up there, searching for answers and pleading for signs. They were rarely there for him, if ever, yet the search seemed to persist throughout his career as a warrior and now as leader. A stranger, a newcomer, an outsider - wearing the scent of their oldest enemy. Yet... how new could it be? It had known to mask MoonClan's scent, had known the details of Beestar's death and their rank, had known MoonClan and the debate of peace... Those all pointed towards being a MoonClan cat, but... “Do you think there are outsiders trying to destroy SunClan?,” he asked softly, almost a whisper. “If it wasn't a MoonClan cat, to know the things reported by Fallenpetal and Honeyflare, how long do you think we've been being watched? Like fish in a pond, circling about our business until this mystery cat - or cats - can strike.”The thought made their blood run cold, vision blurring as they tried to peer into the stars, as if trying to breach into StarClan itself for answers. “... we've got to prepare somehow.” |

Swanmask took but a few breaths to ease her frustration "I do think that there are cats not in the two clans that may cause trouble but to say for certain they are trying to destroy Sunclan, well it seems more complicated then that. If it truly is someone from the outside trying to cause havoc we have been observed for the past few moons at least with no findings of said cat or cats." she took a breath needing to think about that a little longer. "As for preparing, larger patrols will need to go out ones with a variety of cats. The clan is used to patrols formed out of the cats that are awake at a certain time or familiarity, that will need to be changed slightly as its best to put at least one cat with good tracking skills on each patrol even just one for the border." she explained her thoughts as they came. Wondering how Rabbitstar may take them, she had, had some time to think about this as she starred at the stars before his arrival.

Of whittling down their numbers like a plague that needed to be stomped out? He didn't bother asking those questions out loud. Swanmask had no way of answering the questions. Instead, his violet eyes flit up to look at her, to study the forced calm the deputy filled herself with. These were frustrating times. Stressful times. He was relieved she seemed to be handling them well enough. “I trust you to make those changes to our patrols, then,” he stated calmly. With that, he lowered his gaze to the river once more. It was a struggle to keep his neck craned up at the stars and the cats that towered above him. He just needed a brief moment of levelheadedness. “Fortunately, I think the night patrol is equipped in the regards of tracking. I don't anticipate that being a problem. Do you have any cats in mind, though, when it comes to tracking skills?” |

Swanmask thought about her clan mates she was yet to familiarize herself with all of them and frowned "No I believe I will have to speak with them as I deliver tasks to see where some of their strengths may be. Maybe we can have a day of it, to observe the others maybe in a game of seek." she suggested an assessment hidden in a game would surely bring some of their clanmates moods up after everything that had happened right? They could even set up a smaller version of the game in camp for the kits to include everyone. Would that not be better then normal conversation it would also allow her to see who in the new generation may excel at tracking if taught properly. "We could even make a smaller one for the kits." she added realizing she hadn't suggested that part out loud but was already making plans.

That sort of recreation was typically regarded as a waste of time, but... with everything going on, maybe it'd be easier to sell their Clanmates on the idea. From their perspective, it wasn't a purely recreational endeavor after all. He and Swanmask would be watching with sharp eyes for the skills each cat best displayed. “I don't know how the Clan would react to the idea, but... it is a clever one, I think. While we're at it, we may as well make trials of other skills. Getting a comprehensive idea of where everyone's skillsets lie can only benefit us in the end. Having a range of activities may also ensure that more cats participate,” he answered thoughtfully. “The mentors may appreciate it, even. A discreet way to assess their apprentices in comparison to the others and even to the more seasoned warriors. It could be illuminating for the resourceful.” |

Swanmask nodded though she had only thought about the one way to assess she was sure that they could come up with activities that would allow them to see where everyone's skills were but it would take her a moment to think about said other activities in order to see where the skill was in each if seek was to see who was good at tracking, then a race with obstacles would maybe show them how good at climbing, running and maybe memory... if they set it up to where another clanmate gives them a message in the middle and they have to remember it to bring it to the end in proper way would show who their good messengers were.
"I figured it be a way for the clan to bond and actually get to have some fun together, though unusual for us to do it would take our minds off things even for a little while." Swanmask explained a twitch of her ear the only indication that she was still paying attention to their surroundings. "Activities may be the hardest part to come up with in order to link them with a skill, though seek gives us both the ability to mask ones scent and for one to track. I suppose a race of sorts could give a numerous amount of things but if we make one with obstacles it would be seeing how one can jump, climb, their speed if we add in a message to carry somewhere we can test memory and who we could send if a message needs to be sent clearly.." she voiced.

Swanmask nodded though she basically said what came to mind for them she was glad that seemed alright "A spar sounds good too, it will give us a lot of things to look for as for a group activity I'm not sure what that could be right now." she replied a frogs croak startling her just slightly enough to make her shift her paws as she glanced around trying to spot the offending creature before she blew a breath through her nose stopping to look up at the stars once more.
