**✿❀ Daisyfire ❀✿** With paws just outside the water’s reach, Daisyfire was almost forced to reflect her previous interactions at this river. She wasn’t a fan, least of all with her Clanmate there and the intentions going into this little excursion. Tactfully, he took a jab at a rock, turning it over and peering curiously as if it might have answers. Hm. Seems like a rock. She turned her attention back at Needlesong, quirking her folded ears at it. “Remind me, what exactly is it that we’re looking for again? The river washes up a lot of stuff, and I don’t want to grab the wrong… thing.”It wasn’t like she was opposed to getting wet, exactly why she’d offered to join him on his little trip, but for now she kept her paws mostly dry. He’d rather not get hurt from staying too close to the water’s edge and end up slipping or something. While they were both small cats, she wouldn’t want to put Needlesong in a situation where it might have to drag her around. Also, she’d like to keep from any sort of misfortune like getting stuck in the river bank’s mud or just tripping and wounding her pride. “I’m surprised you always seem to have somewhere to put this stuff,” she mused, tapping at the nearby stones. “I sometimes think you must’ve found everything this river has to offer.” She/He + Single + Bi + Warrior + App: Wrenpaw + Needlesong&

Needlesong happily walked about with his paws in the water, carefully inspecting various rocks, “oh, you’ll see.” He chuckled, “this is something I learned a long time ago from my twolegs, back when I used to live with them.” He carefully rolled an egg-shaped limestone rock out of the riverbed, nudging it up higher, looking for a good place to drop it onto hard rock, “I honestly would’ve probably stayed with them if not for the place burning to the ground.” He idly commented.
When he finally reached a good perch, he shot Daisyfire a smile, “hey, watch this.” He rolled the geode off the perch, watching it split open on the rocks below, revealing cool, clear blue crystals inside, “been a while since I saw one of that color.” He hummed as he hopped down, carefully gathering the pieces and placing them in a pile nearby.

**✿❀ Daisyfire ❀✿** Eyes wide and ears forward with surprise, she bounded over after Needlesong to admire the crystals. “Your twolegs did that? They taught you?” She was almost incredulous. With the twolegs he knew, he was fairly certain the creatures weren’t capable of learning much of anything. Apparently, though, they had things to teach cats. Like rocks hiding literal treasure. “How can you tell a rock is going to have crystals inside? It just… it just looks like a rock..”The casual air it held about it all was part of what kept her in awe. Had things like this really been so normal in its life? So common that they only warranted idle comments and easy hums? For now, Daisyfire would refrain from making a comment about Needlesong being willing to stay with his former twolegs. Both because Daisyfire felt he himself couldn’t really reprimand the rebellious nudge against the Code these days, and because it was already clear their twolegs had been very different creatures. A thought then occurred to him. “Unless… all rocks do?” She scrunched her nose in disapproval of the speculation. “I feel like- I feel like someone would’ve mentioned that if all rocks had crystals inside of them.” Then again, how many non-Needlesong cats were breaking rocks? He let out a small laugh, “not all rocks, not at all, no.” He looked down at the riverbed again, “only some of them. But they look a very special kind of way. Here, let me show you.” He hopped down, carefully batting another rock out of the waters, “it’s always these slightly yellowed egg-shaped ones with the bumps on them,” he brought it closer so Daisyfire could properly inspect it, “they’re very frail, too. One or two drops from a decent height onto something hard will split them in two.”
“And yeah, they did teach me. Not directly, but they took me on walks by huge rivers where they’d look for rocks like these and crack them open. I miss those walks sometimes.” He laughed, “it wasn’t long before I learned the signs. Even then, these things can still be duds. Sometimes there are no crystals inside, but there most often are. I don’t think it’s possible to tell which kind just from the shell, though.”

**✿❀ Daisyfire ❀✿** Tilting her head, Daisyfire tried to keep the details of the rock in memory. Yellowish eggs? “I wonder why they look like that, I can’t imagine crystals could make the rock look that way.” In a way, though, wasn’t that fitting? It was very reminiscent of all the things that came out of eggs, just that these were crystals that… probably didn’t become anything else. She didn’t think Needlesong would have an answer, it was just one of those things that fell so easily and impulsively out of her mouth. “Did your twolegs find duds, too? I always felt like it was impossible to tell what they knew or were thinking, I wonder how they knew about these crystal eggs and what they knew about them. I didn’t know twolegs could be so… inventive.” Needlesong’s memories of its twolegs sounded so much different than his own, he was almost curious to ask. It didn’t feel right to prey, though. He gave a small, easy shrug, “must be something about the water. I’ve never found one with crystals in it on dry land.” He smiled.
“They definitely did, yeah. They’d throw those back in the big salty lake and continue looking for other ones.” He chuckled, “sometimes I wonder where they got it from, too. Or why they gave them away for little shiny disks and strangely colored paper.” He let out another small laugh, “twolegs are such strange creatures, no?”

**✿❀ Daisyfire ❀✿** Wrinkling her short nose again, she tilted her head. “The lake was salty? Sounds like the only point in visiting a lake like that is for these things,” she noted as she returned her gaze to the rocks, scanning for the color and shape Needlesong had pointed out. “Just to… hand them away for disks and paper…? What could possibly be the point of that?”Pawing at rocks as he scowled, Daisyfire finally found something to catch his eye. “I saw our twoleg do something like that, but instead of giving away rocks for paper, they gave away one of my half siblings. Not that I knew them well, but it was… scary to watch. I don’t think I ever tried to figure out what goes on in twoleg minds, to be honest. I was just happy to get away,” he grumbled as he pried the rock out from its spot. Bringing it up to Needlesong, she allowed the discovery to sway her mood to something lighter. “I think I found one! What do you think? Or is it the wrong… yellow-ish, or something?” She/He + Single + Bi + Warrior + App: Wrenpaw

Needlesong looked downright appalled at the statement, "for one of your brothers? I couldn't imagine mine doing anything like that. I can understand why you'd want out after witnessing something like that." He huffed, sympathetic as could be. He did turn his attention to the geode,
"yeah, that looks about right. You wanna crack it open yourself and see if there's anything inside?" He hummed, a smile coming over his features again.

**✿❀ Daisyfire ❀✿** Daisyfire was relieved for the sympathy. Some part of her had expected criticism of some sort - Needlesong’s twolegs didn’t give away cats for trinkets. They gave up trinkets for trinkets, much more understandable. They’d taken him places, spent time with him, something he seemed to enjoy - she didn’t even know what to call her twoleg. They had simply been the Human. Her eyes shone with the offer. “Yeah, I’ll give it a go! Hopefully there’s something worth keeping in here, right?” Carrying the treasure, she visited the perch and, with some enthusiasm, shoved the rock off of it. Whatever was in it, the motion was satisfying. Reminded her of knocking down those shiny things that had rested on the windows and clock at her twoleg’s house. It was always fun to watch them break, but they’d usually just become boring white shards. This rock, though, broke apart into crystals. White crystals that lined the inside of the egg, shimmering and shining now that they’d been exposed to light. She was enamored. She’d seen crystals before, but it was an entirely different experience to actively seek them out and free them of their egg-prison. “Well! As far as twolegs go, it sounds like you got pretty lucky - and as far as these rocks go, we’ve been getting pretty lucky to find the ones with crystals today!,” she purred, hopping back down to gingerly collect the treasure as she had seen Needlesong do. “Where are you going to put this, anyway?” She/He + Single + Bi + Warrior + App: Wrenpaw

He let out a small, mirthful laugh at her enthusiasm, content to sit back, watch and listen to her as she spoke, "I suppose I have." He hummed, watching her gather up the pieces of the now shattered geode. Idly, he wondered if she had any interest in hoarding like he did.
"Oh, I have a spot where I hide them away. I've always enjoyed simply amassing them over time." He chuckled, "the variety between two of the same kind is quite stunning, sometimes."

**✿❀ Daisyfire ❀✿** She quirked her ears. “If they look so different, how do you know that they’re the same type?” Finishing her work of sweeping shards into manageable and contained bits, she brought the geode pieces to where the other one had been. “I’ll admit, I’d like to see that at some point, though. As often as you must do this, I can’t imagine just how many you must have by now. At the very least, it’ll make that spot shiny and pretty.”Content with the placement of the pieces, she returned to the water’s edge to hunt for more. “… how do we know when we’ve got enough, by the way? For future reference, obviously we’ve just started.” She/He + Single + Bi + Warrior + App: Wrenpaw
