 Mentions: RabbitstarThe tom had awoken from his slumber rather early he could still hear the constant chirps of the small insects that were prominent only when the sun was still down a couple croaks from a near by frog could also be heard making the apprentices ears shift trying to see if he might be able to locate it but the croaking stopped to soon for him to be sure however the apprentice was no longer able to stay in his nest and therefore made his way out of the apprentice den very carefully making sure not to wake any of the others. His blue eyes looked about the camp trying to see if any of the other cats were awake before the sun was, spotting no one so far he made his way further into the camp he was aware that today his mentor wanted to check on his trainings but which one would be first he was uncertain the mainly white pelted tom stretched himself out feeling his muscles stretch and feeling the tell tale pop of his joints as they moved back into place something any cat could do not just the older ones, although the older ones did tend to need to do it more often he thought. After a bit he heard the tell tale swish of a pelt emerging from a den and was surprised to see the familiar pelt of his mentor already and so he quietly padded over " Beetles in your nest or are you just unable to sleep like myself?" he asked softly but loud enough he knew the other heard him. ✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Rabbitblaze *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ He cast a smile of amusement towards his apprentice, stretching and popping his muscles and bones alike to rid them of sleep. “Feeling sleepless,” he confessed, though in a good mood. “I typically prefer waking up early, anyhow, so it suits me just fine. How about yourself? Something on your mind?” He kept his voice in the same somewhat hushed tone that Snowpaw had initiated. Best not to wake up their Clanmates before they were ready, after all. Especially not with kits running through the camp these days. Cute as they were, he felt that perhaps all cats needed more sleep when there were kits around. Where that energy went, he could never be sure. Giving his curly coat a quick shake, he gestured towards the camp exit. “If you don’t plan to try to catch up on sleep, we can talk about it outside, if you’d like.” |

The young tom nodded wanting to get out and do something anyway and with the plans already set he was opposed to continuing their conversation out in the territory as it was too quiet in camp to maintain an easy-going conversation at some point one of them most like himself would end up speaking a little too loudly and would end up waking some of the others. This he would much rather avoid and so he nodded his head softly heading in the direction of the entrance to their camp so that they could exit and carry their conversation and so once they reached the beginning of their unknown walk Snowpaw looked to his mentor since now he didn't have to worry about waking anyone else "I was just unable to sleep any longer, my body felt rested and would no longer allow me to close my eyes. So now I get an early walk that may lead to training of some sort and I am happy with that." he finally replied.

✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Rabbitblaze *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ He couldn't help but chuckle as he listened to Snowpaw's answer. “Snowpaw, I get the feeling that you want to do a bit of training,” he teased lightheartedly, keeping up a steady pace as they headed further into their territory. “If we're going to be out early anyhow, we might as well do a bit of hunting for the Clan. If you do well at that, then I suppose we could train your battling skills - if you've still got the energy for that.”He thought for a few seconds. “Unless, of course, you've got something you'd like to work on.” He preferred to be a little more lenient with Snowpaw's training as he grew nearer and nearer to earning his warrior name. It was a test of judgement, and an exercise of trust. Snowpaw would need to learn the responsibility of making choices, and doing so while he was still an apprentice would make it easier for him to choose how to spend his time when Rabbitblaze would no longer be his mentor. Though, he supposed he was the Clan's deputy - offering warriors ways to spend their time was one of his duties. Initiative was never bad, though. |

The tom gave a small chuckle from Rabbitblaze's teasing as he thought about it for a moment he understood that hunting for the clan was important he never really saw why some would get disappointed over the aspect of hunting it made him proud when another member was able to eat the prey he caught. "Alright, hunting will help loosen up my muscles anyway rather than the run I usually try to fit in before training." he replied content to skip it this once though he might ask to do it later. As for the training he wanted to do today he was thinking along the lines of getting out into the forest and seeing just how different fighting with the trees and brush was, since Sunclan had only so much forest space they tended to work more on open space fighting where the difference from their enemy is usually greater because they didn't have the help from their surroundings like they were used to he wanted to try newer moves that might help them if they have to fight in tight spaces that the forest surrounding offered. "I wanted to train in the forest today and try somethings out if that's alright with you.." he trailed off unsure. Maybe they would learn new things from each other.

✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Rabbitblaze *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ Pleased with Snowpaw's response, Rabbitblaze led their path towards fruiting trees that were likely to have prey around - they would work their way into more difficult hunting grounds as the day progressed. He nodded along to Snowpaw's suggestion for training later in the day. “I'm proud to see that you're thinking so thoroughly about your training, Snowpaw - that'll serve you well as a warrior, and eventually, as a mentor. We'll take a brief rest after our hunting session, then, and then we'll go into the forest for training.”She liked that plan, though it hadn't been her own, and her words were genuine - he was proud of Snowpaw for still wanting to learn new things so late into his apprenticeship. He was curious, even, just what Snowpaw might want to try out. As they neared the fruiting trees that bordered the meadow, he glanced towards Snowpaw, gesturing subtly that their hunting could begin, should Snowpaw not have any further questions or comments. |

The white tom was watching his step making sure not to step upon the drying debris that littered the path not wanting to scare the prey before the even approached enough to see or smell them. He beamed at his mentors praise nodding his head instead of replying as they neared where they would be hunting for a while, he was quite content to get started as he also went over moves he could possibly do using the forest looking around at the resources in the area. It seemed to him that the forest was a good place for sneak attacks but could he use the trees and things for other things his attention was pulled from his thoughts as the faint sounds of movement reached him.

✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Rabbitblaze *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ It seemed that there were indeed no further questions or comments. Good, they could focus on the hunt - and focus Snowpaw did, it seemed. The movement had caught Rabbitblaze’s attention as well, and he was proud to take note of Snowpaw’s own alertness. It sounded too big to be a mouse or a vole, and Rabbitblaze had his suspicions they were dealing with a squirrel. He’d let Snowpaw take it, of course, and retreated slightly to give his apprentice room to hunt. He’d find his own prey after seeing how the first hunt of the morning went. He’d analyze anything they might want to fix before the assessment that was surely soon in Snowpaw’s future. Quietly, he shifted his position to make absolutely sure that his scent wouldn’t be blown to the prey - even if he wasn’t going to go for it, it couldn’t know he was there either. A cat’s a cat, regardless of who’s doing the hunting, and prey is likely to avoid either one of them despite their intent. |

Snowpaw focused on the sound pulling in a semi-deep breath he began to count the moments before the movement seemed to cease and then continue it would seem their prey was looking for things as well the young tom curled his tail up making sure his long fluffy tail didn't disturb their surroundings enough for the prey to run from it. He shifted his stance slightly pulling himself down a bit he stalked forwards his ears honed in on the sound of the prey though he was unsure as to what it was yet he still wanted to catch something for the clan when he heard the prey stop to probably collect something or listen to its own surroundings he would stop as well making sure that its silence was undisturbed the noise of the prey getting louder as he managed to get closer to it slowly.

✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Rabbitstar *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ Despite neither being hunter nor prey, every step Snowpaw took and every sound the prey made caused Rabbitblaze's body to gain tension. Muscles bound as if he himself was ready to strike. Almost time.Despite his own plans, the corner of his eye caught movement. Rabbitblaze turned quickly, silently, only to see a mouse making cautious work of navigating the terrain. He shifted his position quietly, ready to strike - but he wouldn't sacrifice Snowpaw's catch for the mouse. No, for now he would use that tension that had been building up to make quick work of the mouse as soon as Snowpaw made his move for whatever prey had been rustling. A simultaneous strike, of sorts - difficult to pull off, but he was fairly reliably quicker than a mouse. Decidedly more clever, with much sharper teeth and claws. |

Finally his sights rested upon the puffy but thin tail of a chipmunk he looked at it puzzlingly as he hadn't seen one before though that wouldn't stop him from taking it as prey, the clan needed to eat and it looked close enough to the usual prey they ate he was sure this would be no different. Carefully he moved further trying not to come out of the slight cover he had until he had to knowing that if his pelt flashed this would be over and his prey would try to escape. As the creature came forward as well Snowpaw crouched coiling his muscles enough to make the leap he hoped would be successful. The tom had zoned in shifting his paws properly so he wouldnt end up tripping on them either he finally released catching his prey by surprise a small pitched squeak was heard and then everything was silent once more.

Though short legged, he was swift and the mouse was soon a perfect quick meal in his jaws. Taking a brief moment to thank StarClan for the life of the rodent, he returned his attention to Snowpaw. “A chipmunk,” Rabbitblaze observed with some surprise as he hid the mouse from any potential thieves. Perfect to grab later to bring back to camp. “You don't see many of them around here, a rare catch.”While still an observation, he spoke it like praise. After all, why should he not be impressed? He hadn't taught Snowpaw how to hunt chipmunk. He'd still pulled it off. “Well caught,” he added with a purr, hoping to make his pride obvious. “This little expedition of ours is going well so far. Shall we continue?” |

The younger tom looked over at his mentor the chipmunk now rest at his paws as he straightened it was true that he hadn't recognized the prey but had went in for the catch regardless, though to hear that it was a rare catch well that was different he silently beamed from praise Rabbitblaze had given him "Is it really rare? I admit I hadn't seen one before but it was like a slightly smaller squirrel so I thought I would try anyway." he meowed thoughtfully as he picked it up once more as he went near the larger tree rubbing against it slightly so his scent was stronger he dug a hole to place his catch in dipping his head once it was buried in thanks to Starclan for granting the prey for the clan. When he listened further he noticed Rabbitblaze ask him if they should continue "Well, I think we should if more prey for the clan is what's needed then we shall find more." he replied.

You made a good choice to approach it like a squirrel, being able to adjust to the unexpected using wisdom from our past is an important skill. Let’s keep on, then.” With that, he gestured with his tail as he continued to walk cautiously. It was only a matter of paces before Rabbitblaze caught sight of a pair of long, brown ears peeking out from the cover of the meadow’s greenery. A rabbit. As much as he loved the hunt against the speedy creatures, he cast his purple gaze to his apprentice, gesturing once more. A silent question. Do you want to go for it, or shall I? |
