BEESTAR ▶xx Beestar sighed as she stood up on the great stone where she and countless prior leaders made their announcements in the past. Her paws felt heavy despite whatever feelings were welling in her chest. Today was a good and happy day; Honeypaw, her kit, was becoming a warrior.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Great Stone for a clan meeting." She took a moment to pick her son out of the crowd, offering a short smile and nod as the clan gathered. "Today we are welcoming a new warrior among us. Honeypaw, step forward."

BEESTAR ▶xx "I, Beestar, leader of SunClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn." Pride welled in their chest as they continued, emotion leaking into their voice. "Honeypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

BEESTAR ▶xx A small purr was barely held back. It could wait until after the ceremony, she reasoned. Right now she was a leader, not a mother. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Honeypaw, from this moment on you will be known as Honeyflare. StarClan honors your loyalty and determination, and we welcome you as a full warrior of SunClan." They smiled down at him a moment longer before hopping down and pressing their muzzle to his head before murmuring to him, "I'm very proud, Honeyflare. I'm sure... everyone is."
There was an implication there, one only Honeyflare would know. A name in place of the blanket statement; Glimmerpelt. Of course, Beestar would never mention him, but on this day, where one of their kits was becoming a warrior, she wished he was there to see it happen and share the pride.

Beestar’s words brought a brief moment of ice to him - but only briefly. It disappeared quickly, though, as he quickly resolved to tell Glimmerpelt himself. Not that Beestar needed to know that. Instead, he returned their gesture of affection by rubbing his head against her chest. It probably wasn’t proper form, but he figured they could make an exception for this moment. “Thank you,” he whispered softly, for Beestar’s ears alone. |

Honeyflare was a fitting name, and yet a contradicting one. Honey healed burns, and the newly-named warrior's usual demeanor was heated. She didn't often call with the others, instead lingering near the back with watchful, judging eyes, but she did feel a sense of warmth towards mother and child. Sloepaw didn't make any assumptions about Beestar's parenting, but she could see at least they were both happy now. It was difficult to stay sulking when the crowd erupted. She let the corners of her mouth turn up slightly at Honeyflare, showing her congratulations. 🌿 sloepaw 🌿 mca 🌿 sunclan 🌿 |
