The young tom looked slightly shocked he thought he had whispered that more to himself but he now realized it was louder than he had intended he hadn't said anything before Foxlily had come over near him so that they could begin to try and bring some of the water that was left up hearing their questions made him stop for a second to think trying to find the words more so they would tumble and stutter from his maw. "Uhem, y yes it wass." he replied wincing when his voice still came to a standstill and he didn't release his s completely it's not like he had anything to be scared of here he had no idea as to why he just naturally stuttered over his words. Pantherpaw had to think for a moment upon Foxlily's question about being on the path of a warrior he didn't want to start his conversation and then have to wait to give them a reply and so the tom took a moment for himself no longer feeling like bubbles popped in his chest as he breathed he knew now the water had made its way down or up depending on when things occurred. The black tom lifted his left white front paw and used it to rub his eye "I a-am glad t-that I haven't ended up in here o-often would make it seem like I wasn't fit e-enough to be a warrior. I am h-appy that I was given the chance to become a warrior although I haven't learned much y-yet I will show t-the clan I can still b-be a good one." he responded a shine coming to his eyes as he spoke he truly was happy to be on the warrior's path even though he had trouble connecting to others that did not mean his fighting and hunting skills would be effected and Jaggedwind had so far had the patience to teach him and would even wait while the young tom got his thoughts together while they spoke.

The young tom looked down at the lavender with interest but also with caution having never had to experience herbs before he was slightly concerned yes he knew that the medicine cat would not purposely hurt him but that did not mean that he trusted everything put before him once Foxlily explained it to him he felt better leaning down he took a breath in close to the lavender enjoying its sweet floral and evergreen smell. He let out a soft purr something he had not done in what felt like a long time, it reminded him of the scent that used to cling to his mother's nest in the nursery having since passed away a couple of moons before he became an apprentice he no longer had the support of his family either as he was unaware of who his father was. "My throat I-is a little scratchy," he murmured out realizing that he had stuttered less that time he felt slightly at ease since he did not feel the need to prove himself here.

He looked at the berry with a slightly tilted head even though he knew if he did not act quickly the berry would be stuck to the leaf it rested on if he did not move to take it leaving him to have to eat small pieces of it in order to take it and so he shifted forward grabbing the berry between his teeth the leaf did attempt to come with but he carefully lifted his paw and slid out a claw piercing the leaf and taking it away from the berry before chewing it carefully and taking his time feeling a sense of relief and less of an itch like feeling in his throat once he had taken it turning around he realized just how much he moved from the nest and so he gathered the pieces he had moved piling it back into one place and placed the lavender upon it he sat once more on the nest and looked at the medicine cat "This m-must get hard with the h-harsh season of leaf-bare all by yourself." he meowed looking about the den he realized the herbs were separated into neat piles in one place. "So many." he added after realizing the amount of them.

Having to remember so many names the young tom couldn't imagine how that worked out, hearing that there was a chance to find the medicine cats herbs in leaf-bare made him feel a little better however. He began to think of the reason as to why he was in the medicine cat den to begin with had he been awake before the water got higher maybe he would have had a better chance at things but he still was unsure on how to swim so probably not, when he heard Foxlily mention that things would be easier with an apprentice he looked once more to them paying full attention when she had asked if the berry had helped him "It h-helped a lot." he meowed no longer rasping his words out and his stutter was considerably less then when this whole conversation started. "Do you still get confused about the herbs?" he pondered out loud wondering if it was possible to even learn all of them not that he would want to, he felt he was better of learning to fight for their clan. Not be stuck on the sidelines waiting on the injured though he admitted that the idea of having a sort of immunity on being attacked sounded nice to him, if he had even remembered that properly.

The young tom looked at the lavender at his paws before gently breaking the tip of the plant off creating just a small enough piece the if he took a couple of its flowers off the bottom of its stem he tried to then adjust it on his ear it was his now and he wanted to keep it with him. The rest would serve as his current calming piece, not that he couldn't catch the scent of the part on his ear it was just more with the part of it that still lay on the nest "Y-yes, I guess some cat has to f-fill the role." he replied after thinking about it for a moment though he liked the path he was on he supposed that some cat would be content with being a medicine cat learning all these herbs and being able to treat others in the clan of both injury and sickness. "I d-don't think I could d-do it but some cat would enjoy it, at least I t-think." he added as an after thought not sure how the medicine cat would take it but also not having a filter enough to stop and think about how he had worded things.
