One of those things that made his pelt warm with pride. Evidence he was SunClan’s deputy. Beestar’s deputy. A deputy under StarClan. He waved his tail as if brushing aside the overflow of energy, sitting calmly and taking a deep breath. “Capable cats of SunClan! Gather around to receive your tasks! We all have a part to play in the Clan’s survival!” Rabbitblaze glanced around, waiting to see who the first to receive tasks would be. Her tail tapped on the floor as he thought, waiting patiently - for now. |

It wasn't particularly a habit of Turtlefang's to be early to a meeting, and he hardly intended to make it one as he slithered into view of their newest deputy. More than anything, he just happened to be nearby and paws-free upon hearing Rabbitblaze's beckon. With a gentle shake of his ears, he hovered just off-centered from the other cat, acutely aware of the tom's newfound promotion placing him just that little bit higher up on the ladder than he was prior. Kind of awkward, how that happens, He figured to himself, gaze drifting a bit as he prepared to be addressed. How a cat can go from your equal to your superior overnight.
Not that he minded, of course. Change was the nature of the clans, and it didn't particularly make a difference to him who was bossing who around so long as it didn't step on his toes. Ideally, it'd stay that way even with the shift in leadership.

Pikestorm was happy to finally be out of the medicine cat's den. He was beginning to lose his mind in there. It was so bad, he had resorted to playing with his tail at times. He even counted the individual pebbles on the ground. There were twenty-six of them.
He approached Rabbitblaze and dipped his head to the deputy. Pikestorm was happy the feline was taking her promotion seriously. "What have you got in store for me, Rabbitblaze?" |

Turtlefang, round up a hunting patrol for the morning. Pikestorm, if you could gather a border patrol for the morning, I'll be able to bring one out at sun-high.” He glanced between the two of them, a curled ear twitching as a thought occurred to him. “If possible, bring an apprentice with you. I worry too many of them prefer to do their tasks later in the day, they shouldn't get into the habit of wasting sunlight.” |

≡ One defiant little black ear pricked up at the new deputy's call for volunteers, the rest of her stocky form following in a heartbeat. There wasn't much to love about chores, but she usually found herself lining up for them anyways in hopes of being seen as a particularly diligent apprentice. Even though I'm practically a warrior already, she assured herself.
She'd trotted up just in time to catch the tail end of Rabbitblaze's requests, haughtily puffing up at the thought of being better than the other apprentices, near-warrior-hood evidently already forgotten. "I can go on border patrol with you, Pikestorm," she announced. Hunting was just fine, but taunting some hapless MoonClanners with their victory at the border sounded like much more fun. The quickest cat catches the squirrel, she thought. If they want it back, I'll show 'em where they belong...

⬤ She was much more tired than usual, but did not let that seep into view. As she waited for her own task, she started to groom herself, though her naturally spiky fur was always a hassle to deal with.

I’m glad to see apprentices taking initiative and playing their part in our Clan. In that case, Tigerpaw, Wheatpaw, you’ll both go with Pikestorm. Pikestorm, pick one or two more warriors to join you.” He purred his continued approval, then glanced about the camp. “Seeing as Pikestorm is Wheatpaw’s mentor, and Wheatpaw is so close to her assessment, be sure to review anything you can while you’re out. Rest afterwards, and do some training if you can. I have faith in your abilities as a mentor, Pikestorm.” |

"Good to be out," Pikestrom responded, dipping his head to the deputy. He was surprised to see so many apprentices gathering for tasks; typically, apprentices wanted nothing to do with extra work around the Clan. But with their ceremonies so soon, it made sense that they'd wanted to finsih strong.
He looked at the two apprentices assigned to his patrol and smiled. "Hope you two are ready to put in some good work! We'll patrol the border first and review for your warrior assesments later."
The dark ginger dipped his head to Rabbitblaze, feeling a beam of pride at the compliment. This wasn't Pikestorm's first rodeo as a mentor, and he prayed to StarClan that it wouldn't be his last. There wasn't a single cat in all of SunClan he trusted more to bring up apprentice's right, except for maybe Beestar herself. "We'll get 'er done in no time, Rabbitblaze." |

Although he had no personal qualms with Pikestorm, there was a brief instance where Turtlefang's cool gaze sharpened with irritation as he watched the other warrior round up the clustered 'paws. Leave some for the rest of us, won't you? Whiskers twitching with the prickle now seeded beneath his pelt, the tortie cast a sidelong glance back to his deputy, muzzle turned somewhat so as to put on a more casual guise. "Any recommendations for me, Rabbitblaze?"The spark of impatience that had ignited with the group-up that had gone on before him now quelled to a low flame, one more easily contained, but not altogether lost as the warrior's voice took on a bit of dry edge. "I'd hate to step on any paws, stealing time between mentor and apprentice. If I am to pick freely, however, just say the word." It was best to err on the side of caution and place the risk of misstep onto his superior, rather than take on the responsibility of choice too eagerly and be at direct fault for any miscommunications with any aforementioned mentors. A deputy should know best, after all.

✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Rabbitblaze *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ Rabbitblaze hummed gently, thinking about who might be suited for the job. “Take Honeypaw,” he instructed first, “I haven’t seen Newlight out with him in a while. I know he isn’t very receptive to being mentored, I’d recommend trying to imagine he’s already a warrior, but act with your best discretion.” It wasn’t as if Rabbitblaze knew Honeypaw very well, but he was observant enough. Wheatpaw aimed to please, eager to live up to Beestar’s shadow. Honeypaw was just the opposite, the more one expected from him or asked from him, the more he seemed to retract. Not the best trait for a warrior, but Rabbitblaze trusted Turtlefang could adapt. “I think any other warriors would do fine, but I’d recommend Cloudstrike. I think the three of you are independent enough hunters, you could cover enough ground and be quiet enough to not need to stray far for a successful hunt.” He reflected on the words briefly. “I suppose Darkcinder is also that way. I only ask that you leave Snowpaw for me to take on a patrol later in the day.” |

The tom had heard his name mentioned as he had started to move about camp after Rabbitblaze's call for tasks taking notice that he was speaking with Turtlefang a warrior he did not know all that well. His ears twitched as he picked up the rest of the conversation as well, seems he might be going with the other on their given task although if he wasn't asked to go along he could understand he moved in closer looking at the other multi-coloured tom. As he stood there wondering if he might be asked he stretched t his muscles a bit a couple of pops could be heard as everything shifted back into place from the weird way he sometimes lay down he looked between Turtlefang and Lionshine green eyes eager as he wanted to get things done so he could do what he wanted instead of being told what to do.

✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Rabbitblaze *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧ Rabbitblaze’s attention was quickly caught by Darkcinder’s presence, and he nodded his acknowledgement at the warrior before speaking. “Darkcinder, excellent timing. If you don’t have anything more pressing to attend to, could you join Turtlefang on a hunting patrol for the morning?” He kept his curled tail at his side, though the tip twitched slightly with the betrayal of his pleased state. After all, one of her first attempts at one of a deputy’s most routine tasks seemed to be taken to exceptionally well so far. Though Rabbitblaze would never admit it, there had been the lingering concern that his Clanmates wouldn’t adapt well to his new title after having spent so long without a deputy. This was a good sign. |

Honeypaw. Funny little cat, that one. Turtlefang's gaze slid partially towards the dark maw of the apprentice's den, already pondering his approach- Before another party member suddenly manifested, as if sent from the stars. Although it was certainly a good indicator to see Rabbitblaze's suggestions going so smoothly, the contrarian eternally at play in the warrior's head couldn't help but feel a bit exasperated. It was one thing to fall back on reliable orders, but a whole new thing to feel as if all his choices had already been decided. While it was already determined that Darkcinder would be coming along, Turtlefang couldn't help but eye him quietly for a moment. Sneaky fellow, creeping over here so conveniently.
It wasn't as if the two were all that close, and ideally it would stay that way, but the tom still pondered for a moment what kind of cat would be simpering on the sidelines so passively. If Darkcinder had wanted to join so bad, he could have been the one to lead it in the first place and save Turtlefang half the trouble. Just my luck, that I'm such an early riser. Still, if he likes to skulk, we can at least put it to use on the hunting grounds. Hardly seeing a point to his remaining by his clanmates, he rose to his paws, offering the deputy a slight dip of the head. "I'll fetch Honeypaw, then, since everything else is in order."

The tom was always so calm, though, perhaps he'd imagined it. “Feel free to find another cat or two for your patrol, Turtlefang. Do as you see fit to provide for our Clan,” he offered, rising to his paws. “The patrols for sun-high will be able to manage regardless. Again, my only request is that I might keep Snowpaw for a border patrol later today.”He gestured a dismissal to Pikestorm, with a quick appreciative wave of his tail to show his good faith in the tom, before making a more swooping motion to indicate the apprentices to follow suit. He returned his attention to Turtlefang. “Do let me know if there's any trouble, will you? I'd hate for there to be strife within the Clan.” |

From the brief bob of his head, Turtlefang's gaze rose from the bow, trained on the motions of the deputy as she gestured the other cats onwards. Where he lingered, he couldn't help but notice the certainty with which the pointed tom seemed to hold her every gesture. A rock solid will. Almost put off by how easily the other tortie seemed to fall into his role, Turtlefang found it all that easier to withhold himself once Rabbitblaze turned to address him once more.
That sort of sincerity felt too difficult to match. But then, such is expected of the position.
"Of course." The warrior seemed to idle just a little longer, caught up in his contemplation, before offering an amicable twitch of the ears. "I'll let you know how the prey is running, now that the season is warming."
Muzzle turning abruptly towards Darkcinder, Turtlefang tilted his head casually- a cue. "You'll be joining me, won't you?"
